As Alessio walked back to his office, Isabella's words echoed in his mind. "You didn't just hurt me that day—you made me question my own worth." The weight of her accusation settled in his chest, but something else gnawed at him—something he wasn't ready to confront.

He leaned against the door of his office, his gaze drifting out the window. Autumn leaves swirled in the breeze, their vibrant colors mocking the dull ache in his heart.

'I apologized. That should be enough. Why doesn't it feel like it is?'
