The mansion was surrounded by towering walls, and just beyond the gates stood a line of ten burly security men, each armed and stationed strategically.
At that moment Kai's sharp eyes took in their positions, noting the faint glow of cigarettes, the faint murmur of chatter among them. Sloppy.
It was as if they weren't expecting a threat.
Seeing Kai not paying any attention to him the man suddenly bolted, his fear overriding any semblance of loyalty he might have had to Kai's orders.
"He's here!"
the man screamed, his voice echoing through the night.
"He's an enemy!"
The reaction was immediate. The security men turned their attention toward Kai, their movements precise as they reached for their weapons. But Kai was faster. His gun was already raised before the first man could level his rifle.
The sound of the silenced weapon was muted, more like a whisper than a bang.
