Chapter 95

At that moment Kai walked out into the crisp evening air, the hum of the station behind him faded into silence. The weight of the night's events hung heavy in the atmosphere, but Kai's thoughts remained sharp and calculated. Justice was a burden he bore alone, and every step he took was laced with purpose.

Back inside the station, the chief leaned back in his chair, his expression taut with unease.

Without wasting anymore time he Picked up the phone, with trembling fingers. The voice on the other end said.

"Have you finished what I asked you to do."

"It's done," the chief said, his voice low, almost a whisper.

"Kai doesn't know anything concrete—yet."

"But he's strange," the mayor's voice responded, calm but laced with an edge.

"Ever since that guy landed in Apex Grove, things have been… unraveling."
