Kai leaned against the chair, carefully studying Leilani's face as she spoke. He had asked her what happened in the warehouse, but what he really wanted to hear was if she would mention him—the unknown man. The one who had shown strength beyond human limits.

Instead, she kept her voice even, her words carefully measured.

"I was taken hostage," she said. "He dragged me to the transportation section. I thought it was over for me, but then… he just started killing everyone." She swallowed hard, her hands gripping the edge of the table. "It was a massacre, Kai. I was afraid… and lucky."

Kai listened, his expression unreadable. She had been in the middle of it all, yet she never mentioned anything unusual about the man—nothing about his strength, his speed, or his terrifying presence.

Kai smiled. So she's keeping it quiet.

He didn't press further. Instead, he leaned back and exhaled as the food was served.
