Chapter 108: Preparing for War

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden glow over the city as I stared out of the window of our penthouse, my mind a tangled web of dread and determination. I should have felt a sense of peace, knowing that we were so close to securing everything we had worked for. But instead, there was nothing but a growing tension that seemed to invade every part of my life. Damien was on edge, Sophie and Lucas were buried in research, and I could feel the weight of it all pressing down on my chest.

"Emilia," Damien's voice broke through the haze of my thoughts, pulling me back into the present. I turned to see him standing in the doorway, his expression resolute, but his eyes betraying the strain he was under. "We need to talk."

I nodded, my stomach fluttering with unease. "What's the plan? Are we really ready to go after them?"
