Chapter 126: The Aftermath

The silence in the room was deafening.

The echoes of the confrontation still lingered in the air, heavy and thick, like the weight of a storm that had just passed. It felt as though the world was holding its breath, unsure of what came next. The doors to the estate were closed, the security team was standing guard, and the last remnants of the fight with Victor and his allies were now behind us.

But the cost of victory? That was something we were only beginning to understand.

Damien stood by the large windows, his back to me as he stared out at the view of the estate. The Blackwood name, the empire we had spent years building, was now at a crossroads. The ground had been shaken beneath our feet, but we had survived. At least for now.

"We've come so far," I said softly, my voice breaking the stillness in the room. I didn't even know if he heard me at first, but after a moment, he turned, his face a mixture of exhaustion and relief.
