Hogwarts

Hyacinth POV

I sat at the Gryffindor table same as I did last year and just like last year I was being stared at by Draco, but unlike last year he is looking at me not in what I thought was anger but maybe something else entirely. I'm hoping to get to know him more as a person and not just another Slytherin. I turn to look at Mia and Nev as we wait for the new first years to be sorted and Alister's new song of the year, for a hat he sure is creative with his lyrics.

The twins welcome back prank would have made Dad proud. They somehow convinced the elves to put their new potion into everyone's drinks. The potion turned everyone's hair the color of their house, while every teacher had all the colors of every house. I swear Snape had steam coming out of his ears, I wish I had a camera. After dinner we were all ushered off to our common rooms for the rest of the night. I was right about Dad's reaction to the twins prank. When I called him and told him about the twins prank he literally dropped the mirror because he was laughing so hard. Uncle Remus was luckily there to catch the mirror so it didn't break, but even he had a smile on his face as he wished me a goodnight.

The next morning was relaxing simply because we didn't have class until tomorrow, now all I had to do was avoid Dumbledore for as long as humanly possible. Hermione, Neville, Ron and I made our way down to the great hall for breakfast before we decided what to do for the day. Mia was pushing for studying in the library, Nev wanted to check out the greenhouses that we now have access to as second years and Ron just wanted to play chess and hang out with Seamus. I on the other hand kind of wanted to see the greenhouses and visit Hagrid, before checking out a room in the castle I heard some of the house elf's talking about. Maybe I could get the twins to check out the room with me, they are always up for an adventure.

After breakfast I said goodbye to Mia and Ron and headed off to the greenhouses with Nev. we walked in companionable silence after being around each other almost all summer the slight awkwardness we used to have is now completely gone. It was a good hour or so of touring the new greenhouse before Nev finally agreed to visit Hagrid with me. We knocked on Hagrid's hut and waited for him to answer. He opened the door with a surprised look on his face and said, "Hello, Cinthy, Neville how are you doing today?" I looked up at my friend and said, "Everything is just fine Hagrid. Neville and I just got seeing the new greenhouse and wanted to come say hi to you before we headed back up to the castle." Hagrid smiled and said, "Well that's mighty nice of the both of you but I was just heading out so that I could feed the unicorns. After what happened last year they are a little skittish about running around the forest looking for food." I gave Hagrid a sad smile but said, "Do you mind if we come with you? We might be able to offer aid to the unicorns in relocating. Mr. Scamander is helping my godfather with a new magical creature reserve in hopes of bolstering their declining numbers, with the muggle's growing population leading to the destruction of their natural habitats." Hagrid looked shocked before he said, "Really, Lord Black and Newt Scamander working together to build a creature reserve. I guess it couldn't hurt to try and ask the unicorns about relocation."

We made our way to where the herd of unicorns were at, Hagrid was only slightly shocked when I started talking with them. After I convinced them to go with Uncle Newt when he gets here Hagrid looked at me and said, "I didn't know you could talk to unicorns Cinthy?" I smiled at him and said, "I learned about this skill from Dad. Up until this summer I only thought I could talk to snakes but as it turns out the Potter's have a bloodline skill call beast speak. It basically lets me talk to any and all creatures as if I were simply speaking English, it's really cool but it did scare my Dad when I told him about the time I talked to a snake at the muggle zoo. After Sirius got out of Azkaban he took me to the Potter ancestral manor where I was able to talk with my ancestors and parents portraits. They taught me a lot about my family history and my bloodline talents which helped me feel like less of a freak."

Hagrid looked taken aback by my statement and said, "What do you mean by saying your a freak? Your no Freak Cinthy your the sweetest girl I know just like your mum you are." I smiled up at Hagrid grateful to have him as a friend my smile faded though and with a melancholy look on my face I said, "Well the Dursley's used to tell me all the time I was a freak. I didn't even know my name until I went to school at 6 and the teacher called me." Hagrid looked utterly shocked before he said, "What, but Dumbledore said you were happy and loved. There must be some sort of mistake Cinthy, Dumbledore wouldn't lie to me." I looked up at Hagrid with a sad smile and said, "I don't know if you have been reading the Daily Prophet but there was a whole article published that Dad or rather Lord Black approved of about the whole situation he found me in. I also told Dumbledore about how they treated me before he sent me back to them for the summer. I don't know his reasoning behind sending me back to that hell and honestly I don't care, I am never going back there. I'm sorry if this upset you Hagrid your my friend and I don't want to be the reason your sad, but I don't trust Dumbledore anymore not after he sent me back to a house where I was beat almost every day."

After leaving Hagrid's hut Neville took my hand in silent support and as a way to comfort me, because he knows how hard it still is for me to talk about how I was treated at the Dursley's. Neville knowing that I needed a distraction called the resident mischief makers over to ask if they were up for an adventure. Fred and George got these matching smiles on their faces as they both said, ""We are always up for an adventure!""
