The sun had barely risen when Isabella's shrill voice cut through the quiet house. "Enzo! Don't you dare walk away from me!" she yelled, her voice echoing from their bedroom.
Amelia was still asleep in her small room when the noise jolted her awake. She groaned, pulling the thin blanket over her head to block out the shouting, but it was no use. Isabella's voice grew louder, the argument spilling out of the bedroom and into the hallway.
"You think you can just ignore me? You're pathetic, Enzo! I won't let this go!" Isabella screamed.
Amelia sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes. "What now?" she muttered, swinging her legs over the side of the bed.
Just as she stood up, she heard Isabella storming down the stairs, her heels clicking loudly against the wooden floor. "Amelia!" Isabella's voice was sharp, filled with rage. "Amelia, get out here now!"
Amelia sighed, brushing her hair out of her face. "This woman is impossible," she said under her breath.
