Chapter 33: Immortal Restaurant's Roast Duck

Tang Xiaowan glanced at Chen Nan and even deliberately lingered in front of him for a few seconds before vigorously swinging her notebook a few times.

That disdainful look was like an electric shock.

Fuck, so she wasn't trying to take advantage of me!

Chen Nan suddenly felt his ears burning hot and wished he could make a quick getaway immediately.

However, at that moment, the bell for class rang, and the class advisor, along with two students, walked into the classroom carrying stacks of books.

The new semester's textbooks had arrived.

Chen Nan had no choice but to drop it, and after clearing his throat, he continued to sleep on the desk.

Yet his heart was thumping wildly.

Throughout the afternoon, those three troublemaking girls were very well-behaved, avoiding Tang Xiaowan everywhere and probably knew they were in the wrong since they didn't dare to complain to the class advisor.

Chen Nan even more so slept until it was time to leave school.

The classmates didn't find it odd since he had always been that way.

The reason he arrived half a day late this time was that he had represented the Foreign Language College in the New Era Oral Language Competition.

After three consecutive days of battling, he was extremely exhausted, and he had rushed over at noon without going back to his dormitory to grab his study materials, heading straight to the classroom instead.

Chen Nan slowly stood up and looked steadily at Tang Xiaowan, who was chatting with Chen Yu, his jaw clenched, "Hey, uh... that..."

Chen Yu hurriedly joined in, "Her name is Tang Xiaowan."

"Oh, Tang Xiaowan, well, actually I..."

Hearing the boy's hesitant voice, Tang Xiaowan turned her face toward him, her eyebrows lightly raised, "It's okay, I forgive you. Bye."

Tang Xiaowan didn't wait for a response and directly left the classroom with Chen Yu.

After a long pause, and the two girls were already out of sight, Chen Nan slowly said, "Thank you, goodbye."

In the corridor, Chen Yu kept sneaking glances at Tang Xiaowan.

She had never met such a cool girl who was good-looking to boot and willing to be friends with her.

All the way, she wore a smile.

Upon leaving the academic building, Chen Yu eventually couldn't hold back and opened her mouth, "Xiao Wan, thank you."

Tang Xiaowan: "..."

"Thank you for being willing to be my friend."

"Do you have few friends?"

"Yeah, they all say I..."

Chen Yu turned her face away for several seconds before turning back.

It was then that Tang Xiaowan noticed, through the white square scarf around Chen Yu's neck, a very large black birthmark could be vaguely seen.

Few friends, because of this?

It shouldn't be, right?

"Chen Yu, we'll always be good friends! But, I like to sleep in, so remember to save a seat for me tomorrow morning, I still want to sit in the back row."

Chen Yu's eyes welled up with moisture, and she smiled happily, "Okay, consider it done."

This was the first time that she felt that a beautiful girl could also have a kind heart and would not shun her because of her flaws.

Of course, Tang Xiaowan wouldn't care about these things.

Otherwise, having sat next to each other all afternoon, she hadn't noticed Chen Yu's birthmark, which showed that her mind was all on the conversation.

After splitting up with Chen Yu, Tang Xiaowan went straight to the school gate.

Just then, Bai Long arrived in his car.

The reason she had been so well-behaved and hadn't run amok was partly that she was hungry and eager to go back to Li Garden to eat, and partly because Li Zihan had transferred money to her, saying that as long as she didn't run off, she would get a reward of two hundred yuan every day after school.

For Tang Xiaowan, who didn't have a penny to her name, the charm of money was still quite formidable.

There was an open class for pharmaceutical analysis in the afternoon.

When Li Zihan arrived running, Tang Xiaowan had already been sitting in the car for half an hour.

"Did anyone bully you this afternoon?"

"Everybody was very friendly, and I even made a good friend. It's just that I'm kind of jealous of her living on campus, getting to do whatever she wants without anyone to bother her."

Tang Xiaowan's words struck a chord with Li Zihan.

He liked living at school too, surrounded by lots of people and lively atmosphere, unlike staying alone in his small apartment where he not only lacked playmates, but also had Nanny Wu drop by every few days on his mother's orders to check up on him.

However, now things had improved, and he had finally moved into Li Garden.

He glanced at Bai Long and quietly pulled out his phone.

"Maybe later, you could talk to my brother and let both of us stay in the dormitory. If it works out, I'll give you an extra 100 yuan every day, how about that?"

Tang Xiaowan was startled when she received the message, then she burst into laughter, but it was followed by a sigh.

She knew it was impossible.

"You're his biological brother, if you want to go, just say it yourself, I don't have that kind of influence."

"Please, your status is higher than mine, you're his wife, just act cute or coquettish or something, it's not like it's a big deal for you, please!!!"

After sending the message, she quickly received a reply, just one word, "Scram".

Li Zihan cleared his throat and sat up straight again.

Realizing his use of language had been improper, he sneaked a glance at Tang Xiaowan and cautiously sent another message.

"Why the anger? Pretend I never said anything, we'll talk about it later, haha!!!"

Tang Xiaowan didn't reply again, the probing had failed.

Why was she so stubborn?

It seemed like if they weren't family, they would never walk through the same door!

Li Zihan exited the chat and started playing games.

The driver, Bai Long, smiled wickedly.

Although he didn't know what the two kids were scheming, the synchronized movement of pulling out their phones had entirely given them away.

Seeing Li Zihan's disappointed expression brought a great sense of satisfaction to his heart.

On the way back to Li Garden, Bai Long stopped the car at Immortal Restaurant, as instructed by Li Zishen.

It was the most famous duck restaurant in Jin City.

Though not the largest in size, around 100 square meters, the business was incredibly successful; during meal times, the queue could extend all the way to the roadside.

Bai Long was not troubled by this at all.

He walked through the hall, straight into the prep area and bellowed, "Two ducks, four portions of wraps, no need to chop them, want them whole."

The manager, who was busily brushing oil on the ducks, heard someone shouting and was about to snap, but upon seeing it was Bai Long, his expression changed instantly.

"Brother Long, long time no see."

"Hurry up, Brother Shen is waiting."

"Right away, please wait a moment."

The manager scurried to the oven and picked out four plump, juicy ducks.

He was about to bag them when Bai Long coldly said, "I asked for two."

"These two are for you, as a token of respect."

After saying that, he smiled foolishly, very flattering.

"Was I not clear enough?"

Seeing Bai Long appeared displeased, the manager quickly packed only two ducks and four portions of wraps, adapting the condiments accordingly.

Other staff in the prep area didn't dare to say a word, each busily attending to their tasks.

"Brother Long, here is the duck you wanted."

Bai Long just grunted in response, then took the gift bag and left 200 yuan in cash before leaving.

Prep area.

The manager picked up the money, his expression complex, and said, "Xiao Cui, bring me my phone quickly."

His tone was low, as if something monumental had occurred.

"What's the matter, boss?"

"When I tell you to get it, just get it, stop prattling!"

Startled by the shouting, Xiao Cui jumped, paused for a few seconds, then quickly grabbed the phone and ran to the manager: "Here, boss, your phone."

A call was made, ending with four zeros.

"Boss, Bai Long just came by..."
