When Xinan used to watch Cheng Yi play video games, she had secretly tried it herself but no matter how she played, she couldn't get past.
It always looked so easy when Cheng Yi played.
Later, Cheng Yi had taken her through the game several times, it was incredibly easy to win with him there, but she couldn't win at all when she played alone.
Perhaps that was just the difference between people.
Just then, there was the sound of a door opening.
As soon as Cheng Yi entered, he saw Tan Bo and Jiang Yurou playing video games.
"How are you two still here?"
Tan Bo and Jiang Yurou immediately looked annoyed, what did he mean by "still here"? Did he really not want to see them?
Seeing Cheng Yi, Jiang Yurou looked like she had seen a savior, "Brother Yi, you're back just in time, come help me and Tan Bo duel, I always lose to him."
Tan Bo: "Why call for help if you're losing?"
Jiang Yurou pouted: "Mind your own business."
Cheng Yi took off his jacket and tossed it on the sofa, then walked into the living room.
He first looked at Xinan, "Did you take your medicine?"
Xinan replied, "Yes."
Cheng Yi nodded, then turned to Jiang Yurou and Tan Bo, "What are you playing?"
Jiang Yurou: "Street Fighter."
"Pass me the controller."
"Here you go!" Jiang Yurou handed him the controller, making a face at Tan Bo at the same time.
Cheng Yi sat on the floor, holding the controller, skillfully maneuvering the game character around the map.
His movements were fluid and in less than five minutes, he had successfully defeated Tan Bo.
"Hahahaha, that was hilarious, that'll teach you to show off, Tan Bo," Jiang Yurou laughed, holding her stomach.
Seeing Jiang Yurou laughing like that, Tan Bo couldn't help but get annoyed, "What are you laughing at, what's so funny!" Then he turned to Cheng Yi, "Another round."
A minute later, Jiang Yurou, watching the "KO" on the screen, couldn't stop laughing, "Hahaha, can you even compete, Tan Bo?"
"Damn," Tan Bo cursed quietly, "That round doesn't count, I wasn't even ready."
Jiang Yurou: "There's no use arguing, Tan Bo, even if we play ten more times, Brother Yi will still be better than you."
Cheng Yi wasn't interested in listening to their bickering, he glanced at Xinan, "Are you playing?"
"I think I'll pass," she thought her skills were too embarrassing to show.
Jiang Yurou said, "Nannan, you should try, it's really fun. Look, even Tan Bo dares to play with his terrible skills, I believe you can do better than him."
Tan Bo thought, why am I always the one getting hurt.
Cheng Yi said, "Give it a try."
Xinan hesitated, then said, "Okay."
Xinan could tell Tan Bo was letting her win, but in the end, she still lost.
Jiang Yurou paused, then said, "It's okay, let's have another round."
In the next game, Xinan awkwardly fumbled with the controller, her character in the game darting around the map. As Tan Bo struck down, Xinan was too slow to hit the jump button and got knocked down.
Her reflexes were just too slow.
Just as she was about to be knocked down again, suddenly, a cool sensation came from the back of her hand.
It was Cheng Yi's hand on hers, and then he gently grabbed the controller, starting to guide Xinan's moves.
From this position, it looked as though Xinan was being embraced by Cheng Yi.
Xinan's heart skipped a beat at this angle, with a slight tilt of her head, she could see Cheng Yi's clearly defined jawline and prominent nose.
When Xinan looked at the screen again, the situation had completely turned around and she saw the words "Game Over."
Even though she knew Cheng Yi was incredible, Xinan hadn't expected him to win so quickly.
Tan Bo hadn't expected to be completely outplayed by Cheng Yi either. It really sucked.
Jiang Yurou gave Cheng Yi a smile and started to flatter him, "Brother Yi, you're truly amazing, you're my idol!!!"
"..."
Jiang Yurou's flattery didn't touch Cheng Yi's heart at all. He slowly opened his mouth and began to issue a dismissal, "We've eaten and played games, isn't it time for you to go?"
Jiang Yurou's face looked quite ugly. He was so heartless.
After Jiang Yurou and Tan Bo left, the villa instantly felt a lot colder and the air seemed thinner.
Cheng Yi suddenly asked, "Do you have any plans next?"
Xinan was puzzled. Why was he asking that?
"I don't think I have any plans. Why?" she asked.
"When your foot has healed, shouldn't you repay me?" Cheng Yi's deep voice was inexplicably mesmerizing.
Xinan then remembered Cheng Yi's previous words about taking her to a place.
She thought for a moment and replied, "Okay."
Xinan's foot healed very quickly, and now she felt no pain at all when walking, but Cheng Yi still hadn't mentioned when he would take her to that place.
When Cheng Yi got up in the morning, Xinan also sat up and asked, "When are you taking me to that place?"
She would be lying if she said she wasn't curious. These past few days, she had been wondering where Cheng Yi might take her, but her intuition told her that none of the places she guessed were where he planned to take her.
Cheng Yi didn't answer directly but instead said, "Come help me tie my tie."
Xinan took the sapphire blue tie that Cheng Yi passed to her and knelt on the bed to tie it for him.
"I'll wait for you at nine o'clock tonight at Haowei International Hotel."
After saying that, Cheng Yi went to work.
Haowei International Hotel? Why would Cheng Yi take her there?
Could it be a date?
Xinan was startled by the thought, but Cheng Yi's recent attitude towards her did seem much friendlier...
After lunch, Xinan looked at the time; it was only eleven o'clock.
She changed her clothes and styled her hair; it was half-past three.
Since she had changed her clothes, why not put on some makeup as well.
By the time she finished everything, it was already seven o'clock, two hours before nine.
Xinan felt her heartbeat was a bit quicker than usual.
At eight o'clock, Xinan left the house and hailed a taxi at the entrance of the condominium, hurrying towards the city center.
Sometimes, the more you rush, it seems the universe wants to mess with you more, bringing you exactly what you fear.
Seeing a long line of traffic ahead, Xinan checked the time; it was already half-past eight, with only half an hour left until nine, and they were still quite a distance from Haowei Hotel.
Xinan anxiously asked the driver, "Sir, how long will this jam last?"
The driver glanced at his phone and said, "Probably half an hour."
Half an hour? That would mean she would get to Haowei Hotel past nine.
Cheng Yi really hated people who weren't punctual.
Xinan asked, "Sir, is there another road we can take?"
"There is no other road. This is the only route to Haowei Hotel."
