Chapter Four - New beginnings

I stood at the front of the auditorium, clutching my award tightly. Another accolade to add to my collection. Mom's beaming smile and proud whispers still echoed in my mind.

But as I walked back to my seat, Elijah's piercing blue eyes caught mine. His warm smile stirred something within me. I quickly looked away, focusing on the principal's words.

The final year had begun, and I was determined to maintain my top spot. Yet, Elijah's presence unnerved me. Why did he have to transfer here now?

After the ceremony, Elijah approached me. "Congratulations, Soar! You're quite the achiever."

"Thanks," I replied, trying to sound casual. "Welcome to our school."

As we parted ways, I couldn't shake off the feeling that Elijah was different. His genuine interest in me was refreshing, but I hesitated. Was I still waiting for Adrian, I didn't know.

New Beginnings (Elijah's POV)

I observed Soar from afar, intrigued by her confidence and beauty. Transferring schools in my final year wasn't ideal, but circumstances forced my hand.

As I joined the class, whispers and curious glances followed. I spotted Soar, her eyes locked onto mine. For a moment, I felt seen.

My goal was to make a fresh start, leave past mistakes behind. Soar seemed like someone worth getting to know.

Adrian's Pov

I watched Soar from across the room, I could see her eyes fixed on someone. Tracing the direction of her eyes, I saw him, it was the new boy Elijah. I could see from his eyes. Sparks were flying between them, regret gnawing at me.

A new determination burned within me. I'd win her back, prove my worth.
