There was a reason why the plan Euri had explained to Vernon differed from the one he offered his two colleagues. Simply said, this was a measure of leverage to keep both parties in check, lest they should entertain any idea of deviating from the main course.
From Vernon's perspective, he was paying 30,000 credits off his debt and 10,000 extra to compensate the two disgruntled thugs. Another 6000 credits would soon have to be paid to Euri's account if this plan worked out.
But to Aemon and Jameson, Vernon was paying 40,000 credits off the debt, an amount close enough to the basic installment to be deemed reasonable.
As for their compensation, they'd take the cut a week later when Vernon became ready to pay that.
In this intricately chaotic arrangement, the creditor, the debtor, and the collector, all three parties would be adequately satisfied. No one would feel like they were being taken advantage of.
