"That... was impressive." Even Bryan was shocked by the destructive prowess of the breath. It has not only destroyed the ape, but has also proceeded to tear a hole in the forest, rendering countless trees nothing but ash.
Beast skills also known as beast abilities were special abilities a beast tamer and his beast acquired every time they advanced a level.
Thanks to the grueling work he and Carl had endured, they had made into the third level of beast taming, Elite, meaning they possessed a total of three special skills they could use.
"Though mine is not as powerful as Carl's." Fire Breath was powerful but it took time to prepare which meant that the person or beast using it would become almost defenceless when using it.
It was almost sheer madness for a human with their frail bodies to engage a beast in close combat meaning that skills like that were often cast by the Tamer, not the beast.
Bryan had considered that path but felt it did not suit his style. Which was why he focused on a fluidity; making sure he could fulfil any role needed.
But the abilities were fundamentally a beast's which meant that it would be more powerful when used by it.
"I'm kinda envious." Bryan said as he picked up Carl who had gone back to his original size and threw him into his pocket.
'Time to skedaddle.' Bryan looked at the corpse of the ape and nodded before vanishing from the spot.
After a while, the trees rustled as a girl with golden brown skin walked out into the clearing.
"I wonder who was making a mess." This was the girl that. Ryan had seen before they were sent here.
She surveyed the surroundings with calm in her green eyes and she nodded.
"Okay, it looks like whoever was where took care of things quite nicely. I think we can camo here." She turned back and announced and a large shadow lumbered out.
"Come on Ragna. You don't have to be afraid of a couple of flames." The girl said with warmth in her tone and the beast named Ragna walked into the clearing.
Ragna was a tortoise. Standing more than one and a half meter tall and almost thrice as wide.
"Don't give me that look. We both know you didn't want to come here because you valued your sleep." The girl rolled her eyes and leapt onto the back of the tortoise.
Despite all her joking around, her expression barely changed with the only indicator of emotions being in her tone, giving a somewhat creepy air.
"I'd be more popular if I made more expressions? We both know that's not true. Girls like me don't become popular." She bitterly said and laid on Ragna's back and in a split second, she dozed off.
'This girl...' Ragna thought as he shook his head. After taking a look around, he stomped on the ground and the earth rumbled as it rose and formed four walls that rose into the sky.
"Hmm... Thanks Ragna." The girl muttered and Ragna grinned.
'You're welcome, my beloved daughter.'
....
"Freeze." With this cold order, a weasel that wielded the power of wind instantly turned into an ice sculpture and landed on the floor
A boy with icy blue hair stepped on the sculpture and with a crack,it shattered into pieces.
"You were sloppy Dola." The boy said in a cold voice at the bird that circled above his head.
"Caw?" The bird tilted her head and the boy popped a vein before relaxing.
"Haa... Next time, don't make any mistakes." The boy warned and the bird ignored it and landed on his head and sat on it.
"Don't just sit on my head without permission." Dola shook her head and pecked at the boy's forehead.
"Ow! Why do you always do the things I tell you not to?" The boy narrowed his eyes and Dola shook her entire body and the boy felt the bird was not even listening to him.
"Haa... let's move on." And thus, the boy continued his own journey with the bird still pecking at his head.
This was just one of the many incidents taking place in the forest. No one knew where they were, but they knew what they had to do.
....
"Hmm... I knew I called those kids trash but it seems like they're better than I expected." Invigilator O smirked as she watches she examinees from the comfort of her room.
"This isn't your room." As if reading her mind, Invigilator D reprimanded her as she swerved around in her chair.
They were in a room filled with a large amount of computer screens, each of them showing a different thing.
Of course, they did tell the candidates it was a survival test but they have enough intention of wasting the life of anyone present.
In other words, it was just a scare tactic.
"No way that old man would allow us to kill his previous potential students." Invigilator O let out a sigh after that and looked at D.
"Hey D, how about we go for a little walk." A slight blush appeared on her cheeks as she fidgeted from nervousness.
"No way." D coldly refused her and she leapt up.
"Hey! If a maiden invites you anywhere, a man's duty is just to nod and say yes." She wiggled her finger she spoke impassioned.
"First of all, that's sexist. Secondly, we all know you just want to fight, you battle junkie." D rolled his eyes at her.
D and O were classmates and have been working in the same place for a very long time.
It meant that they were closed enough for him to be able to read her mind somewhat. To a certain degree. Just a bit.
'Okay, apart from some matters, I have absolutely no idea what goes on in her head.' D shook his head and Looked at O.
"Stop sulking. I'll go out with you once we finish with our work." He said and she immediately brightened up.
"Okay! Let's get to observing!" She pumped her fist into the air as her energy levels rose.
Well, D knew she was going to ask the same question and hour later, as she always did.
"I just want to sleep a bit." He murmured and continued observing the candidates.
