It's been two days since… whatever that was.
Kaori hasn't said a word about it. Neither have I.
After that awkward, lingering moment between us—the almost-touch, the intense eye contact—I expected something to happen. An explanation. A casual mention of it. But Kaori acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary. And so, I followed her lead. Pretending nothing happened was easier than confronting it.
All I did was lie in bed, watching anime until noon, wasting the weekend away. I had no idea there was a school festival today—because, let's be honest, I don't care about school events. I never have. If Kaori hadn't messaged me in the afternoon, I probably wouldn't have even known.
...
"School festival today. Be ready by 5 PM."
I stared at my phone. What?
"Huh?" I typed back.
"My parents expect us to be there. It's part of your job, part-timer."
"…I don't even know what this festival is about."
