...
Konohagakure.
Inside the Hokage's office.
Obito laid out his plan—to harness the power of the entire planet to stand against the Ōtsutsuki—to Minato and the others.
Minato took a sip of tea, his expression carrying a trace of disapproval.
"Obito, this is a serious matter. You should have discussed it with us first."
Kakashi nodded in agreement, leaning against the wall.
"This is a high-stakes gamble. If we lose, humanity will be completely wiped out."
Obito rubbed his chin, grinning mischievously.
"There's no way to have a proper discussion about something like this. When personal interests are involved, some people will always fail to see the bigger picture."
"Besides, by the time we actually reach a consensus, the Ōtsutsuki will probably have already attacked. At that point, humanity will still be doomed."
Minato and Kakashi fell silent.
If Obito hadn't acted on his own, events likely would have played out exactly as he described...
Seeing their reactions, Obito shrugged.
"That's right, this is a do-or-die gamble. I'm betting everything I have on victory."
"But since my own chips aren't enough, I had no choice but to bring everyone else in on the bet."
Sigh...
Minato set down his teacup, letting out a soft chuckle.
"At this point, there's nothing more I can say. As long as you know what you're doing."
His student's growth had long since exceeded his expectations—perhaps even his understanding.
It filled Minato with pride, but also with helplessness.
Because now, there was hardly anything he could do to help.
Obito grinned and hopped onto Minato's desk.
"Minato-sensei, right now is the perfect time to reshape the power dynamics of the ninja world. I think Konohagakure should seize this opportunity and rise to the top."
Minato's eyes lit up, his mind already turning over the possibilities.
"In that case, Obito, I'll leave this matter to—"
Before he could finish, Obito firmly nodded.
"I understand your intentions, Minato-sensei. Leave this to Kakashi."
There was a brief pause.
Then, Obito patted Kakashi's shoulder with a solemn expression.
"Kakashi, you must take this responsibility seriously. Don't let Minato-sensei down."
Kakashi's face was utterly baffled.
"Huh?! What?!"
...
Stepping out of the Hokage's office, Obito hummed a tune as he made his way home.
"Grandma, your grandson has returned from saving the world!"
His grandmother bustled out of the house, her steps light with energy. She beamed as she ruffled her grandson's hair.
"I waited and waited, and I finally got to see my hero grandson come home."
Obito smirked proudly, hands on his hips.
"Grandma, you didn't believe me when I said I'd save the world. Now do you believe me?"
His grandmother promptly smacked him across the head, laughing as she scolded him.
"You little rascal, getting all cocky with your grandma now?"
"No matter how strong you are outside, at home, you're still my grandson."
And if I had the choice, I'd rather you just be an ordinary child...
She sighed inwardly but kept smiling.
"Now, tell me properly—what exactly happened?"
Obito took her hand, channeling a burst of chakra into her body to revitalize her health. Then, grinning, he began his story.
"Grandma, here's what happened..."
Of course, he left out the dangerous parts, telling the tale in a lighthearted, humorous way.
Though his grandmother could sense that he wasn't telling her everything, his words still reassured her.
After finishing his story, his throat dry from talking, Obito casually grabbed a bottle of juice and took a sip before continuing.
"Grandma, I recently bought a big house, and it's all set up now."
"I want you to move in with us. What do you think?"
His grandmother's eyes revealed a trace of longing, but hesitation quickly followed.
"Wouldn't an old lady like me be a burden on you and Rin?"
Obito shook his head, looking at her seriously.
"Of course not, Grandma. Rin and I would love to have you with us."
"Besides, when we're both busy, you could help take care of little Hagoromo."
Hearing that, his grandmother's face lit up with joy.
"Alright, alright! Then I'll move in and lend you both a hand."
"I'll help take care of the baby and keep the house in order."
...
Recently, the balance of power in the ninja world had been shifting dramatically.
The invasion of that foreign woman had served as a harsh wake-up call to everyone.
The greatest threat to humanity wasn't each other—it was the terrifying extraterrestrial foes who could attack again at any moment.
With this looming danger, the ninja villages put aside their conflicts and began negotiations for peace.
It wasn't long before they reached a common understanding: they had to unite against external threats.
Kumogakure, Sunagakure, and the remaining ninja villages all joined the "Community of Destiny."
However, new disputes quickly arose.
While everyone was now allies, every alliance needed a leader.
Otherwise, no matter how powerful the coalition seemed, it would ultimately be nothing more than a scattered mess.
So, who would take the helm of this grand alliance?
The struggle for leadership turned fierce, with open battles and covert manipulations alike.
The Game of Power Among Great Nations
In this war without smoke or bloodshed, Konohagakure held an overwhelming advantage—bolstered by its "savior" reputation and support from Yoru village, Akagakure, and Kirigakure.
Unwilling to be sidelined, the major nations of Lightning and Wind rallied the weaker countries to resist Konoha's dominance.
Encouraged by the Land of Lightning's secret maneuvering, the headstrong Land of Forest openly declared war on Konohagakure, accusing it of acting like a tyrant.
By the afternoon of that very day, the entirety of the Land of Forest was occupied by Yoru village.
Rumors spread that Yoru village's forces were so ruthless that even stray dogs on the roadside got smacked twice.
The daimyo of the Land of Forest was dumbfounded.
As for the other great nations who had previously voiced support? They all fell silent.
"We were just cheering you on—we never said we'd actually fight for you."
Many leaders had a newfound respect for the daimyo of the Land of Lightning—when trouble arose, he ran fast.
And as for the daimyo of the Land of Forest? Well, he had courage—but he wouldn't be around to show it again.
After making its power known, Konoha turned to a divide-and-conquer strategy.
They proposed six governing council seats, open for fair competition among the alliance members.
A carrot after the stick.
In the end, Konoha, Yoru village, Kirigakure, Akagakure, Kumogakure, and Iwagakure claimed the six seats.
The restructuring of power was complete.
For the next few decades, war in the ninja world was unlikely.
At long last, peace had arrived—albeit belatedly.
Future conflicts among the great nations would be fought in economics, technology, policies, and talent—not in battlefields.
Ninjas would no longer exist merely as tools of war.
They would exist to protect their homes, their people...
As weapons of war in a different form.
