The Grandmother’s Return

"You should have told me you were returning from Moscow, grandmother." Michael said as he led Katherine back into the house, Morris trailing behind them.

"Well, I wanted it to be a pleasant surprise. It worked, didn't it?" Katherine replied, taking off her jacket and handing it over to the waiting arms of one of the maids.

Michael shook his head and chuckled.

"Yes, yes it did. How you eaten anything? Would you like the servants to prepare something?"

Leading her towards the couch which she had once claimed as her favorite, Michael took a seat opposite her while bombarding her with questions.

Katherine smile, glad that despite all Michael had been through he was still the caring boy she had raised. Although on the outside he seemed like a very cold person, his stoic expression played a key role in fooling people into thinking that, but on the inside, he was a warm and loving person.
