Chapter 33: The Consequences of Betrayal

The Centipede was deliberately trying to intimidate them. He sought a more advantageous witness.

Filla appeared flustered, stammering, "I—I think I saw that the person who grabbed him had a playing card in hand..."

"Enough of that nonsense!"

The Centipede cursed, raising his hand menacingly. He had intended for Filla to be his witness, but to his dismay, she had spoken the truth. It seemed for a moment that he might slap her, but he hesitated and let his hand fall.

This surprised me. I hadn't expected Filla to risk her safety to defend me and speak honestly at such a critical moment.

The Centipede then tapped my head with an air of malevolence, stating, "Kid, you've been caught red-handed. What do you have to say for yourself?"

"Centipede, your game is getting dirty. You know I didn't cheat better than anyone else!"

Even with the blade pressing against my neck, I held my ground, glaring coldly at the Centipede. This scoundrel dared to play such underhanded tricks!
