Chapter 51: Fated Encounter

Fated encounters.

I never could have anticipated running into this cousin of mine, who once treated me like a stray dog, here.

He is my cousin, Rolf.

In the past, he and his father—my uncle—brought me nothing but pain, assaulting me with fists and sticks.

The dark days of torment are memories I can never forget.

All I feel for them is loathing and hatred!

I steeled myself, trying to calm my emotions, and asked him, "How is my aunt doing?"

I still hold some gratitude for my aunt.

Rolf, as he shuffled the cards, casually replied, "Don't worry, she's not dead. With such a devoted son like me, how could she be?"

He glanced at me and then inquired, "What are you doing these days?"

"I'm working as a server at a bathhouse…"

Upon hearing that I was merely a server, the surrounding gamblers looked at me with disdain.

"A server like you should be working, not loitering around here!" Rolf sneered, his contempt palpable.

I fell silent, choosing not to respond.
