I understood Ulfred's intention clearly. He did not want Aeliana to continue down the path of thievery; he yearned for someone to guide her. As for his remarks about preparing tea and warming my feet, that was merely a courtesy.

After a moment’s contemplation, I spoke up:

“If Ulfred has no objections and trusts me, then Aeliana may accompany me. I never had siblings growing up, so rest assured, I will treat her as my sister…”

I spoke from the heart. Ever since I turned six, I had not experienced any familial affection.

A look of relief washed over Ulfred's face.

As we conversed, a boy of about seventeen or eighteen sauntered into the pavilion. He had delicate features, a fair complexion, and was not particularly tall, wearing spectacles. Clutching an English book, he ambled along, engrossed in his reading.
