Chapter 27: Amelia’s Doubts

Trust was a delicate matter. I discovered that through difficult experiences. Whenever I believed I could depend on someone, the foundation under me changed, forcing me to struggle to regain my balance. Now, as Andrew forces his way into my existence, I cannot prevent the uncertainties from sneaking in.

Can I rely on him?

“You haven’t said much,” Andrew remarked, his voice shattering the stillness. He sat opposite me at my small kitchen table, his presence overwhelming the space in a manner that seemed nearly stifling.

"What would you like me to express?" I inquired, aimlessly swirling the tea in my cup.

"That you will allow me to be involved in our child's life," he responded, his voice steady yet firm.

I glanced up, making eye contact with him. They were shrewd and deliberate, and still, there was an underlying quality—something that caused me to pause. He wasn't merely present to triumph in a fight; he sincerely thought he was acting rightly.
