Chapter 30: Amelia’s Struggles

The sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains in my bedroom, creating faint rays of illumination on the floor. I perched on the side of my bed, my hands placed on my expanding belly. The turmoil of the past few days swirled in my mind like an unyielding tempest. Work, the pregnancy, Andrew’s constant presence, and now Ryan’s threats—it was all overwhelming.

A subdued buzz from my phone disrupted the quiet. I looked at the display. A notification for my hotel shift flashed back at me, accompanied by numerous missed calls and texts—some from Sarah, a few from unknown contacts, and one from Andrew.

I paid no attention to any of them, throwing the phone back onto the bed.

"Just another day," I whispered to myself, pushing my legs to move.
