Chapter 52: The Pregnancy Complications

Amelia's hand naturally cradled her expanding belly as she rested back against her bed's headboard. She felt the weight of the previous few days' worry bearing down on her like a physical burden. Her appetite was nonexistent, and she had hardly slept. She was too exhausted to answer any more calls or messages, so she disregarded her phone as it buzzed on the nightstand.

With a gasp, she forced herself to stand up when a sharp, unexpected pain pierced her abdomen as she closed her eyes, willing herself to find a moment of calm. She clutched at her tummy in panic. She had never experienced such severe, twisting, and wave-like anguish before.

She reached for her phone and dialled Sarah's number while her fingers trembled.
