Chapter 62 – Rank D

Morning sunlight streamed through the window of our room at the Golden Hearth Inn, the golden rays catching flecks of dust in the air. It was peaceful—quiet enough that I could almost pretend the world outside wasn't riddled with cultists, goblins, and the occasional oversized beast with too many teeth.

Almost.

I adjusted my cloak, glancing at Lunara as she stood by the door. She was as composed as ever, her movements precise as she checked the fit of her gear. The faint flicker of sunlight off her silver hair might have been beautiful if it weren't also a reminder of how utterly unruffled she was at all times. If Lunara ever panicked, I'd assume the apocalypse had already started and I'd missed the memo.

"Rank D," I said, letting the words hang in the air.

"We're moving up in the world."

Lunara glanced at me, her expression unreadable.

"Efficiency yields results."
