Team Rocket’s Second-in-Command! [276]

Mimikyu executed Phantom Force, diving into the shadowy void beneath the battlefield and vanishing from sight. In the next instant, it reappeared right behind Gliscor.

Having already suffered from this move once, Yuma was prepared. The moment Luo Yuan issued his command, Yuma warned his Gliscor to stay alert.

As soon as Mimikyu materialized, Gliscor's tail whipped around with lightning speed, aiming directly at its attacker.

"Poison Jab!"

The tip of Gliscor's tail glowed with a menacing violet light, its toxins potent enough to inflict serious damage and potentially leave Mimikyu poisoned.

The crowd watched with bated breath.

Mimikyu was mid-air and seemingly unable to dodge.

"Will it hit?"

All eyes were locked on the imminent collision. If Gliscor's attack landed, the already worn-out Mimikyu might not survive.

Even commentator Kyosuke was on edge, hastily organizing his thoughts to provide an analysis.

But before he could speak, Mimikyu twisted in mid-air, a shadowy claw emerging from beneath its disguise. With precision, the claw seized Gliscor's tail, using it as leverage to pull itself closer.

Then, in a shocking move, Mimikyu crashed directly into Gliscor's chest.

Caught off guard, Gliscor lost its balance. Its wings faltered, and it plummeted to the ground, raising a thick cloud of dust upon impact.

Inside the dust cloud, the sound of fierce blows rang out—one after another.

"Gliscor!" Yuma called out desperately, but there was no response.

When the dust finally settled, the scene left everyone speechless.

There stood Mimikyu, head tilted eerily to the side, standing triumphantly over the unconscious Gliscor sprawled beneath it.

The referee didn't even bother with formalities.

"Gliscor is unable to battle! Mimikyu wins!"

Yuma was silent.

He knew Mimikyu's Swords Dance had enhanced its attack power, but he hadn't expected it to be this overwhelming.

In the audience, Jun—having already been eliminated by Luo Yuan—watched with a mixture of relief and disbelief.

Thank Arceus Luo Yuan didn't use Mimikyu against me, he thought. Otherwise, my loss would've been even more humiliating.

Kyosuke, recovering from his initial shock, quickly pivoted his commentary:

"Yuma's Gliscor has been decisively defeated! Mimikyu didn't give it any chance to retaliate. Witnessing such a dominant performance in the Indigo League finals is truly astounding! What will Yuma do next?"

The crowd roared with excitement, their energy reaching a fever pitch.

Meanwhile, Yuma felt the weight of the crowd's enthusiasm pressing down on him.

The cheers didn't motivate him—they only worsened his already sour mood.

But running away wasn't an option. He refused to lose with a score worse than Jun's.

"Go, Electivire!"

In a flash of light, a massive yellow-and-black Pokémon appeared on the field. Electivire's twin tails crackled with electricity, sending sparks shooting into the air.

"Electivire, huh?" Luo Yuan regarded the Pokémon with mild interest.

It was certainly well-trained, and its imposing stature made it look durable. But looks could be deceiving. With a pitiful defense stat of 67, Electivire's bulk was little more than a facade. Against a Mimikyu powered by three uses of Swords Dance, it was nothing but cannon fodder.

"You really don't have many options left, do you?" Luo Yuan quipped, his tone casual but cutting.

Yuma gritted his teeth, refusing to back down. "We won't know until we try!"

Luo Yuan shook his head and gave Mimikyu a subtle signal.

Mimikyu launched itself toward Electivire without hesitation.

"Thunderbolt!"

Electivire's body crackled with energy, electricity surging to its twin tails before firing in a massive bolt toward Mimikyu.

But Mimikyu didn't need instructions to react.

Its body shimmered, splitting into multiple duplicates. One became two, two became four, and soon, the battlefield was filled with Mimikyu clones.

Electivire's Thunderbolt struck several clones, but the real Mimikyu remained unharmed, weaving through the electric onslaught with ease.

The sea of Mimikyu rushed toward Electivire, leaving it paralyzed with indecision.

"Use Discharge! Hit them all at once!"

Yuma's command was a gamble.

If he couldn't target the real Mimikyu, he'd attack them all and hope to paralyze the real one in the process.

Electivire pounded its chest, unleashing a burst of electricity that spread across the entire field.

"Electivire uses Discharge, engulfing the battlefield in electric energy! Could this be Yuma's chance to turn the tables?" Kyosuke shouted, doing his best to hype up the crowd despite the lopsided nature of the battle.

The blinding light of the electric attack filled the stadium.

Yuma squinted, searching for any sign of Mimikyu's reaction. Had it been hit?

When the light faded, Yuma's heart sank.

Mimikyu stood unharmed, a translucent barrier shimmering faintly around it.

"A Light Screen?"

The referee confirmed Electivire's defeat a moment later.

"Electivire is unable to battle! Mimikyu wins!"

Yuma's scalp tingled as the realization hit him.

This was now a 4-0 match—the same score by which Jun had lost earlier.

Two choices lay before him:

He could surrender now, matching Jun's loss and saving himself further humiliation.

Or…

He could fight to the bitter end, clinging to whatever shred of hope remained.
