chapter 36

Chapter 36:

– Valerie –

The limo rolled to a stop in front of Hellsing Manor, the long ride finally over. I stretched my legs, grateful to be out of the cramped space. Seras looked just as relieved, while Alucard stepped out like he hadn't been confined at all. Selene followed, glancing up at the grand estate with an unreadable expression. Walter was already waiting for us by the front entrance.

"Integra is expecting you in her office," he said, his usual composed self. His gaze flicked over us, lingering for a moment, probably assessing how much damage control would be needed.

I sighed. "Great. Guess we should get this over with."

As we walked up the steps, I glanced at Selene. "Whatever Integra says, take it with a grain of salt."

Selene furrowed her brow. "Why?"

Seras chuckled. "You'll understand soon enough."

We made our way inside, climbing the stairs to the upper level. When we reached Integra's office, the door was already slightly ajar, as if she had been expecting us the moment we arrived.

We stepped inside, and there she was—Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, seated behind her desk with her sword and gun laid out in front of her. The unspoken threat was loud and clear. Her piercing gaze swept over us as she gestured toward the small, uncomfortable wooden chairs arranged in front of her desk.

It was deliberate, meant to make us feel like misbehaving children about to be scolded.

I wanted to roll my eyes at how dramatic it all was, but I kept my mouth shut. We had kind of fucked up.

"Sit," Integra ordered, her voice sharp.

We all took our seats, and I crossed my arms, preparing for the worst.

Integra leaned forward slightly, fingers interlocked. "Explain. Everything. Start with why you burned down a motel."

Selene's head snapped toward Alucard, her confusion plain as day. "You burned down a motel?"

Alucard let out an amused chuckle. "Oh, yes. I forgot about that."

I blinked. "Oh, yeah. Me too."

Seras scoffed. "I didn't forget. Does that get me out of trouble?" She turned hopeful eyes to Integra.

I pouted. "That's not fair. I wasn't even part of that! That was dad!"

"Oh...? Throwing me under the bus are you, daughter? I'll remember that in our training session later tonight..."

"We're having a training session tonight?" I gulped nervously.

"Of course, your performance against those mutants was lackluster from what Seras told me!"

I turned to Seras and she gave me an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, Valerie. You know I can't lie to my 'master' and I want to make sure you're safe. We did kind of get our asses kicked–" Seras was interrupted by what happened next!

"BANG!"

A gunshot went off in the room and I hissed in pain! Integra was pointing a smoking pistol at me! She shot me in the bloody arm!

"You shot me!" I whined in disbelief. "The hell!?"

Integra gave me a look that immediately silenced my next complaint. "I don't like being ignored," she told us...

I could even hear Selene gulp and mutter something about "this human being scary..."

I felt the bullet squeeze itself out of my arm, then tumble to the floor with a metallic clang. A dull ache lingered where it had torn through my flesh, but my vampire healing sealed it up, leaving me with a faint tingle.

…I tried not to think about how many times I'd been shot in the last few days.

Integra sat behind her massive desk, staring at me like I was some disobedient kid who needed a lecture. "Don't make me shoot you again, Valerie. I thought you were the smart one!"

"Why do you keep saying that!?" I whined at her. "You know I spent most of my life in a cage right? I never actually went to school..." Other than in my past life, but a lot of those memories had kind of faded. Meh, school was bullshit anyways...

Integra seemed to pause for a moment at my admission. "Huh... I never realized that. We might have to 'rectify' that sometime soon. For now, though, just get on with the report. I want to know everything that happened."

I nodded at her. Not wanting to get shot again. That freaking hurts! "Alright, so here's what happened…"

I started at the beginning, talking about meeting the mutant Ororo on the street and then running into her students and the young vampire. And then we crossed paths with Blade that led us to confronting that poser who called himself Dracula, which was a load of crap of course. I then mentioned how Alucard had ditched us during that part of the mission...

Alucard's voice cut in while I was explaining. "Hey, I had important business to handle."

Selene pointed at herself. "I guess I'm that important business?"

Alucard smirked at her. "Damn right you are."

Integra's hand inched toward her gun. My heart kicked up a notch, so I hurried to move on.

"Anyway," I said, "Seras and I went back at the mansion. There was this entire black ops unit there that was trying to capture our new mutant friends. We had a nice, quiet firefight—" I paused. "Well, maybe not so quiet."

"There was a lot of gunfire..." Seras trailed off.

Integra's eyes narrowed. "You're telling me you fought off a whole army? Where did the bodies go?" She sounded like she was already pissed.

Alucard shrugged. "I ate them."

"For fuck's sake," I muttered under my breath. That wasn't going to help. Integra looked like she wanted to flip her desk. I tried to keep my tone level and continued curling a strand of my long blonde hair around my finger. "So," I went on, "after that, we met up with some other sort-of-evil mutants, attacked this top-secret underground base, rescued a bunch of kidnapped kids and FINALLY put an end to that Weapon X shit—" I stopped and looked at Seras. "That about cover it?"

Seras smiled. "Yep, other than us having a passionate threesome with the sexy ebony mutant, that's pretty much it!"

My face went hot, and I smacked a palm over my eyes. "Goddamn it, Seras, why would you say that?" I knew she got a kick out of seeing me squirm, but this was next-level trolling!

Alucard gave me a thumbs up, like a proud father congratulating me on a job well done. I wanted to sink into the floor.

Selene cleared her throat.

Integra gaped at Seras and me, her expression a mixture of shock and annoyance. "Get out of my office," she snapped, pointing at the door.

I didn't need to be told twice. Seras and I scrambled up.

Once we closed the door behind us, I pouted at her and asked why she told Integra that!?

"It's basic police reverse interrogation tactics," she explained. "When you find yourself losing an argument, you need to throw out an absurd statement that completely throws the other party off their game! Integra was so embarrassed picturing us in a threesome that she forgot about punishing us!" she explained with a smile.

Damn, Seras could be more devious than I thought. And I guess that had actually worked out then…

Seras and I separated for a bit.

It was nice to be 'home.' I walked through the halls of the Hellsing mansion, feeling my shoulders relax at the familiar ornate decorations and fancy wallpaper.

I nodded and waved to a few soldiers who were on patrol. They returned the gesture with polite smiles, although they looked a bit wary. I guessed that was because they'd heard the gunshot earlier...

I headed upstairs and made my way to my bedroom. The door was slightly ajar, so I slipped in quietly. I spotted Narcissa, my blonde milf maid, fussing with the sheets on my bed.

She had her back to me, and I grinned, thinking I should sneak up on her...

It would be funny to hear her scream.

I reached out to start tickling her, but as my hands moved closer, I felt like something was wrong.

I then noticed a slim wand tucked at her side. The tip peeked out, and before I could process why it was pointed in my direction, red sparks flew. A spell hit me square in the chest.

I gasped and staggered, then fell to the floor in a fit of uncontrollable laughter.

My body shook from head to toe as tickling sensations spread across my arms, ribs, and legs. I tried to form words, but only breathy giggles came out. My cheeks grew hot from the strain of laughing so hard. "Narcissa… s-stop!" I managed to squeak.

She finally turned, her expression calm but amused. "Welcome home, Mistress," she said, her voice dripping with affection.

I fought to catch my breath as her wand flicked again. The tickling ramped up, focusing on my breasts and thighs. My laughter turned into breathless moans when the sensation became stronger. My hips jerked involuntarily. "Oh fuck," I choked out, gasping for air, "I gonna c—"

She waved her wand a third time, and the tickling vanished. I lay there panting, part of me disappointed it ended so soon....

I dragged myself up on one elbow, only to find Narcissa leaning over me. Before I could say a word, her lips pressed against mine. My eyes closed shut as I kissed her back. Her hands slid along my sides, then up my back, pulling me closer. Her fingers threaded into my hair. A rush of warmth flooded my chest. My heart pounded against my ribs as I let myself enjoy it. Narcissa always knew how to push my buttons.

She eventually pulled away, leaving me a little unsteady. I was still breathing heavily, and my legs still felt a bit weak from the earlier spell.

"I missed you," she said as if I'd been gone for months.

It had only been a couple of days.

I swallowed, brushing a stray lock of hair from her cheek. "I missed you too," I replied. "Anything exciting happen while I was away...?" I asked her.

Narcissa shrugged at me as she went back to folding my sheets. "Nothing much," she said after thinking about it for a minute. "Oh! Right, I suppose my ex-husband did finally pass away in his cell…" she said off handedly.

"...I'm sorry?"

She waved me off. "Don't be, I'm certainly not."

The jet lag had gotten to me so Narcissa suggested I take a nap.

I was snuggled under my covers, comfortable and warm, about to slip into sleep. My eyelids felt heavy, and I let out a content sigh.

Then, in an instant, I felt the sensation of falling. My stomach lurched, and before I could comprehend what was happening, I slammed into a solid surface!

"Ah—what the shit!" I shrieked, pushing myself upright and looking around in a panic.

I realized I was completely naked on top of some random rooftop in a city I didn't recognize. A cold breeze made me shiver, and I wrapped my arms around my chest. I always slept in the nude, but I sure as hell didn't want to be naked out here.

I groaned. "Why…?" I had a suspicion who was responsible for this.

A low chuckle sounded behind me, and Alucard stepped forward, tossing a bundle of clothes at my face. At least he had the decency to let me cover up. I noticed right away that my usual red jacket and my magic gun were nowhere to be seen.

"Welcome to hell training," Alucard said. He paused, then smirked. "Well, I guess this is the opposite of hell, if you think about it."

My fingers fumbled with the clothes as I scrambled to get dressed. The rooftop was pretty damn cold. I pulled on a pair of tight pants, a thin shirt, and some boots that were definitely not my style and from some bargain bin obviously, but at least they fit.

I stood up, rubbing the goosebumps on my arms. "Dad...? Where the hell are we?" I whined.

He pointed across the rooftops, and my gaze followed. My eyes widened when I caught sight of tall walls and towers in the distance. A chill ran down my spine when I realized it was the freaking Vatican!

"Are you serious?" I hissed. "We're vampires. Well, you're a vampire, I'm a dhampir, but still—this is a bad idea." I groaned at the thought of exorcists or whatever the Vatican used to guard their territory coming after me. "Only bad shit will happen if they find us. You do realize that, right?"

Alucard grinned, showing off his fangs in a way that made me want to punch him. "Exactly. Bad for them, good for you!"

I glared. "You can't be serious. I'm not suicidal. They'll load me full of holy bullets."

He waved a dismissive hand. "Your Sephiroth Grail Sacred Gear will handle that, won't it? Holy attacks affect you differently than a normal vampire, so you'll be fine."

I clenched my jaw. "But I'd rather not test the limits of my immunity in the middle of the Vatican."

Alucard took a step closer, eyeing me with a mix of fatherly pride and genuine concern. "Listen, Valerie. You need a power-up." He spoke calmly, but I could sense the impatience in his voice. "Despite you trolling Integra–nice one by the way– you actually are smart. I know that you figured out how our bloodline works. We gain strength by consuming the blood and essence of powerful beings!" he explained. "However, drinking from only the same beings won't make you grow any faster. You need a more diverse diet!" he grinned.

I felt a knot forming in my stomach. "And let me guess. There's someone inside the Vatican you want me to—"

"An angel," he interrupted. "There's always one or two of them wandering around this place..."

I let out a short laugh, disbelief coating my words. "You want me to fucking drink from an angel!?" Wasn't that like…blasphemy!? It definitely would have been in my last life!

He shrugged. "Yes. That's exactly what I want. And you're not coming home until you do! Try not to die, daughter!" he laughed and vanished into his own shadow.

Probably still watching me from somewhere but I doubt he'd actually help me out unless I really was going to get killed…

– Father Anderson –

Father Anderson stood by the courtyard wall of the Vatican orphanage, watching the children chase each other around with loud laughter. The sun was warm, and he liked how it lit up the old stone buildings. It was always nice to see the kids happy, especially after all the hardships they'd gone through.

He noticed Asia Argento step out from under the shade of an archway. She was a young nun with blonde hair and a gentle expression, one of the kindest souls in the church. Asia moved toward him, her steps hesitant, as if she was afraid to speak.

Father Anderson gave her a friendly nod. "Hello there, Asia," he said, keeping his tone light. "What can I do for you?"

She fidgeted, glancing at the children playing in the distance. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry… for disappointing you," she admitted softly.

Anderson's eyes narrowed in confusion. "You didn't disappoint me, child. A devil snuck into the Vatican and almost tricked you into healing it. That's not your fault. The exorcists should have been more vigilant."

Asia lowered her gaze, tears forming at the corners of her eyes. "But I almost committed the highest blasphemy," she whispered, her voice shaking. "I would have healed him if you hadn't shown up a second sooner."

He nodded and reached out, patting her head gently. "That extra second was given to us by the Lord. I was in the right place at the right time for a reason, just like you were. Now you know how low these devils can go with their schemes, and you can be more careful."

Asia sniffled, wiping at her eyes. A couple of younger children dashed over, grabbing her hand and pulling her toward a small patch of grass where they were playing. She gave Father Anderson a timid smile, then allowed the children to drag her away.

He watched her leave, arms folded over his chest. A quiet chuckle escaped him as he saw the kids swarm around Asia, but his amusement faded quickly. That entire incident had been too close. An evil creature had slipped past security and entered the most holy city in the world....

Father Anderson wouldn't let that happen again! The next time any foul beings tried, they would deal with him personally, and he showed no mercy!
