Actually, we were a combination of both sunshine and midnight rain. This is the story of how we evolved, how we broke free from the chains that held us down, and how we discovered ourselves, even amidst the ruins of the night.



Kamari Ese Avena has always lived in the shadows of her half-sister Elle Avena, hiding beneath the radar. However, when Elle falls to her death at Rain Academy, Kamari is left to bear the burden of being the sole surviving Avena daughter. This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't mean giving up her aspirations for her father.



The walls don't deceive. Rain Academy is now Kamari's new home, but what if her new residence is her adversary? There's also Elle's group of friends and a mysterious Spanish-Japanese boy who appears to know more than he's letting on.
