Chapter 162: Parting on Bad Terms

Upon seeing Old Madam Lu at that moment, Zhong Nianyao did have a fleeting moment of stupefaction. However, she quickly remembered the meal she'd had with Lu Yichen, and she more or less had a grasp on the situation.

Old Madam Lu looked toward the doorway and when she saw Zhong Nianyao enter, she just glanced over indifferently and gestured to the seat opposite her, "Sit!"

The attitude wasn't outright arrogant, but it was dismissive. Clearly, in her eyes, a person like Zhong Nianyao was beneath her notice. There was no overt disdain or high-handedness, yet it was obvious that she didn't regard her as important.

Zhong Nianyao wasn't angry; she directly went to sit opposite Old Madam Lu. Then, without waiting to be asked, she picked up a teacup and took a sip.

Seeing Zhong Nianyao's actions, Old Madam Lu couldn't help but frown, a hint of scorn flashing in her eyes.

The two sat facing each other, neither of them speaking first.
