Chapter 6 What to Do When Xie Yanchuan Misunderstands

Watching Xie Yanchuan become increasingly entangled, Xu Jinzhi quickly said, "Then I'll go back first."

"Okay," Xie Yanchuan nodded again, even seeming to let out a sigh of relief.

Xu Jinzhi stepped out of the office and had barely walked a few steps when she turned back to look at Xie Yanchuan standing at the office door. Deep down, she was still somewhat uncomfortable.

At that moment, Xu Jinzhi missed the Xie Yanchuan who would have initiated a farewell kiss.

Xie Yanchuan just stood at the door, seeing Xu Jinzhi look back at him, he moved his lips slightly as if wanting to say something but didn't know what he could say.

Xu Jinzhi said nothing, only smiled, turned around, and then really left.

Xie Yanchuan stood there, watching Xu Jinzhi's figure disappear from view before he returned to his office.

Back in the office, Yanchuan found himself alone again, with nothing seemingly different except for an extra cup on the desk, proof that someone had indeed been there just before.

Xie Yanchuan sat down, thinking of the conversation with Xu Jinzhi, and for some reason, he always felt something was subtly off.

If all went well, they would marry in the near future, and Xu Jinzhi would become his wife.

At the thought, Xie Yanchuan lowered his head and blinked slightly.

Two days later.

In the Xu Group's office building, a line of directors and executives sat in the meeting room, with Xu Group's people on one side of the table and Xie Group's on the other.

The meeting room was very quiet, with only the soft rustle of documents being turned as Xie Suian and Xu Zhen signed the contract.

By signing this contract, the Xie Family and the Xu Family would truly be bound together.

After the successful contract signing, the documents were distributed in triplicate for each party to keep and secure.

Xie Suian stood up and extended his hand toward Xu Zhen, "Mr. Xu, we're truly family now."

"Yes, we are family now," Xu Zhen said, not forgetting to glance at Xie Linchuan standing beside Xie Suian, his eyes filled with undisguised disdain.

Xie Linchuan felt somewhat apologetic as he endured the condemning gaze silently, and Xie Suian didn't say a word. After all, these circumstances were not honorable for the Xie Family from the start.

After signing the contract, the group prepared to head for the hotel. Today was a day to celebrate the official partnership of the two families, and arrangements had already been made at the hotel.

With business matters settled, everyone sat down and conversation no longer revolved around work.

Xu Jinzhi had a decent tolerance for alcohol, and considering the occasion, she didn't drink much. Partway through, she visited the restroom.

When Xu Jinzhi came out, she immediately saw Xie Linchuan standing at the end of the hallway.

Xu Jinzhi paused in her steps and couldn't help but roll her eyes. If it weren't for her past life experiences, the current Xu Jinzhi wouldn't have seen through Xie Linchuan for who he really was.

But with her past life's knowledge, Xu Jinzhi knew clearly about the tumultuous grievances between Xie Linchuan and that woman. She knew just how detestable Xie Linchuan's character was.

So, with the perspective of an omniscient observer, Xu Jinzhi looked down upon Xie Linchuan.

Xu Jinzhi walked past, outright ignoring Xie Linchuan who then called out to her, "Mr. Xu."

Xu Jinzhi stopped and said with some impatience, "What is it, Mr. Xie?"

Xie Linchuan took a couple of steps towards Xu Jinzhi, then said with what seemed like regret, "About our situation, I owe you an apology."

"Our business?" Xu Jinzhi sneered, a look of incredulity on her face, "You'd better not!"

"Acting like you're so in love with me, it was just a casual mention between our families, and besides, the person who is getting engaged to me now is your brother! Talking so ambiguously, what if Xie Yanchuan misunderstands?"

Xie Linchuan heard this and his expression grew complex, "What I mean is..."

"I don't care!" Xu Jinzhi cut off Xie Linchuan mid-sentence, then spoke indifferently, "You, just be all lovey-dovey with your girlfriend. I, naturally, will be deeply in love with Xie Yanchuan."

"It's best if we don't have anything to do with each other in the future, except for work."

After Xu Jinzhi said this, she turned around and left, not giving Xie Linchuan a chance to speak.

Xie Linchuan just watched Xu Jinzhi walk away, frowning helplessly. He still felt some regret, both towards Xu Jinzhi and his own brother, Xie Yanchuan.

But he had no choice, he was still in love with that woman, he couldn't forget her.

When Xu Jinzhi returned to the private room, everyone there was still having a great time. Xu Jinzhi went back to her seat and sat down, noticing Xu Zhen's face was flushed from drinking. She whispered a word of caution, "You should drink less."

Xu Zhen nodded, then continued drinking, clearly dismissing her words.

Xu Jinzhi said nothing more, took out her cell phone, and found Xie Yanchuan's WeChat. She wondered what to send him?

After hesitating for a while, Xu Jinzhi finally sent Xie Yanchuan a message, "What are you doing?"

These past few days she had been busy discussing contracts and had no time to contact Xie Yanchuan.

After sending the message, Xu Jinzhi stared at her phone, clearly waiting for Xie Yanchuan's reply. But Xie Yanchuan, for reasons unknown, hadn't responded.

By the time the meal was over, Xu Jinzhi still hadn't received a message from Xie Yanchuan and suddenly felt it was pointless, guessing he must be busy in his lab.

Nonetheless, Xu Jinzhi wasn't discouraged. She would have time tomorrow, and then she would go directly to catch Xie Yanchuan.

The next day.

At seven-thirty in the morning, Xu Jinzhi came downstairs for breakfast.

Xu Zhen was already eating, and on hearing her approach, he looked up and saw his daughter smiling brightly, looking like a girl in love.

"What's with you?" Xu Zhen raised an eyebrow and asked.

Xu Jinzhi's expression remained indifferent, "What do you mean 'what's with me'?"

Seeing that Xu Jinzhi did not directly answer, Xu Zhen didn't inquire further, just looked at her meaningfully. He was an old fox; how could he not see that there was something going on with Xu Jinzhi?

Besides, who hasn't been young before?

Xu Zhen decided to turn a blind eye.

After breakfast, the father-daughter duo went to the company to start their day's work.

There was an executive meeting that afternoon and by the time it ended, it was almost three o'clock.

Xu Jinzhi was the first to leave the conference room, quickly heading towards her office while leaving Assistant Chen behind, with everyone else still unaware of any issue.

It wasn't long before Xu Jinzhi emerged quickly from her office again, bag in hand, clearly ready to head out.

"Where are you off to?" Xu Zhen casually asked as Xu Jinzhi walked past.

"Got something to do," Xu Jinzhi replied, and without waiting for Xu Zhen to ask more, she had already walked away.
