Chapter 12 Meeting the Parents

On Sunday morning, Xu Jinzhi was exhausted and didn't even get up for breakfast until it was quite late. She then quickly got up to wash up and pack her luggage before heading straight to the airport.

"Mr. Xu, I packed some food. Do you want to eat something?" Assistant Chen asked Xu Jinzhi while looking back.

At that moment, Xu Jinzhi still had her eyes closed. She shook her head and didn't respond to Assistant Chen, so he didn't say anything more.

It wasn't until she was at the airport, pushing her luggage along, that Xu Jinzhi finally felt a bit more awake. However, due to lack of rest, she still looked quite haggard.

Just before boarding the plane, Xu Jinzhi got a call from Xu Zhen, who was concerned she might have missed the flight, fearing she wouldn't make it on time.

After all, the two families were having dinner tonight, and she absolutely couldn't be late.

Xu Zhen had planned to make a good impression in front of the Xie Family and hadn't considered being deliberately late – such a tasteless act was not something he would do.

"Don't worry, I'll arrive by 3 PM. I still have to stop by the house first," Xu Jinzhi had everything organized. If it wasn't for the dinner with both families, she definitely wouldn't have rushed back so early after being busy for so many days.

"Alright, I'll wait for you at home," Xu Zhen said.

She hadn't seen Xie Yanchuan for several days and was missing him a bit.

Assistant Chen noticed the change in his boss's expression, which had gone from baffling two days ago to completely ignoring now, because he knew that his boss had fallen in love.

At 3 PM,

Xu Jinzhi came out of the airport on time. The car was already waiting outside, and as soon as Xu Jinzhi got in, they drove off.

It was the weekend, so there was some traffic congestion on the road, but their appointment was for 7 PM, so Xu Jinzhi wasn't too worried.

Upon arriving home, Xu Jinzhi instantly saw Xu Zhen in a suit, sitting properly on the living room sofa, even his hair meticulously styled.

Xu Jinzhi couldn't help but tease, "Anyone who didn't know better would think you were about to go on stage at a wedding."

"Nonsense!" Xu Zhen glared at Xu Jinzhi.

Xu Jinzhi couldn't help but laugh a little, "It's just a dinner, why so nervous?"

"That's your lifelong matter, how can I not be nervous?" Xu Zhen's expression was somewhat awkward.

He only had Xu Jinzhi as a child in his life, and it wasn't because he couldn't have more or didn't have money to raise them. So what else could it be?

It was because of his love for Xu Jinzhi!

His only daughter, he really worried endlessly that she might be wronged.

"Enough, enough, you look hideous right now. Hurry up and go tidy up," Xu Zhen said irritably.

Xu Jinzhi hadn't applied makeup today and had been on the road for most of the day. Ugly she could never be, but she indeed looked a bit worn out. She didn't argue with Xu Zhen and turned towards the stairs to go upstairs.

Xu Zhen watched Xu Jinzhi climb the stairs and couldn't help but sigh.

He always felt there was plenty of time, but step by step, the situation had moved to the point of engagement, and she might even leave their home by the end of the year.

Thinking about it, Xu Zhen felt sad. What could he do? He didn't even feel like eating dinner tonight!

Xu Jinzhi had returned to her bedroom and taken a bath, then she started to change clothes and do her makeup. By the time she was ready and came downstairs, an hour had passed.

"How's this? Not ugly, right?" Xu Jinzhi deliberately twirled in front of Xu Zhen, remembering how he had called her ugly before.

Xu Zhen was speechless, his face stern, not wanting to talk.

"Come on, it's getting late. Let's go," Xu Jinzhi said with a smile, then bent down to pull Xu Zhen up and walked with him toward the exit of the villa.

On the way to the hotel, Xu Jinzhi and Xu Zhen both sat in the back seat.

Xu Zhen was not in a good mood, and to distract himself, he deliberately brought up work matters with Xu Jinzhi.

Knowing that Xu Jinzhi's business trip had gone smoothly and all matters had been properly settled, Xu Zhen was very pleased with her. He did not skimp on his praises, saying, "You did very well."

Then Xu Jinzhi took out her phone to send a message to Xie Yanchuan, while Xu Zhen frowned again, his expression very serious, as he sulked on his own.

"We'll be there soon," Xu Jinzhi said.

A few seconds later, Xu Jinzhi received a reply from Xie Yanchuan, "We'll be there shortly too."

At this moment, Xie Yanchuan was also still in the car, and an elder sat beside him. Although his hair was white with age, his vigor was still evident.

Old Master Xie glanced sideways at his grandson until he put away his phone, then said in a deep voice, "If you want to back out now, it's still possible, at the most you'd only compromise my old face."

"I don't care what your father told you, I'm telling you clearly now, it's not too late to back out. But if you don't regret it, then from today onwards, you must know your responsibilities."

Old Master Xie looked at his grandson, his expression somewhat stern.

"I know," Xie Yanchuan quietly responded, his demeanor remaining very determined.

Although Xie Yanchuan did not know why, a voice inside him told him that marrying Xu Jinzhi was the right choice, and he wouldn't regret it.

Seeing Xie Yanchuan answer so earnestly, Old Master Xie knew the matter was settled. He watched Xie Yanchuan for a while before speaking, "The girl from the Xu family is a good kid."

Old Master Xie had met Xu Jinzhi before and, to be honest, he liked the girl very much. He even felt that she would definitely achieve more than Xie Linchuan in the future.

The car stopped at the hotel entrance, where a doorman hurried over to open the door. Xie Yanchuan got out first and then went around to the other side to help Old Master Xie out.

Then the cars carrying Xie Suian and Xie Linchuan arrived, and everyone gradually got out. Today, for such an occasion, all six members of the Xie Family were present.
