Someone Is Playing Trick With My Life

Before Leon could move, the door creaked open wider, revealing Aunt Layly's guilty face peeking from behind it. Her shoulders sagged slightly as her eyes met Emma's.

"Ah… I'm sorry, Young Miss," Aunt Layly sighed, wringing her hands nervously. "Earlier, Master asked me to bring his gift for both of you to this room, but he called me back in such a hurry… I must not have made it out in time before you both arrived."

She smiled awkwardly, stepping out fully and smoothing her dress. "Anyway, have a good rest, Young Miss, and congratulations on your wedding."

With that, she hurried past them, leaving Emma and Leon standing in the hallway, the tension lingering thick in the air. Emma glanced at the door, her unease still gnawing at her despite Aunt Layly's harmless excuse.

"Aunt Layly…" Emma suddenly called out, stopping her in her tracks just before the elevator.

"Yes, Little Miss?" Aunt Layly replied, blinking rapidly in surprise.
