Emma's fists clenched at her sides, her chest heaving with every angry breath she took. "So…you decided to stay silent?" she snapped, her voice trembling with both fury and pain. When Leon stayed silent, guilt flickering in his eyes, she lost the last thread of her composure.
"Say something, Leon!" Emma shouted, slamming her palm against his chest. Her hand struck hard, once, then again, but Leon didn't move. He stood there, letting her frustration pour out in every hit, his face showed everything, the guilt and desperation.
Finally, with a sharp inhale, she pushed him aside and stormed back into the study.
"Emma, wait—" Leon's voice followed her, but she didn't turn back. She wasn't going to let him distract her now.
Her hands tore through the neatly arranged desk, throwing open drawers and shoving papers aside. "Where is it?" she muttered, her voice rising with every second. "The page has to be here."
