Emma took a deep breath after successfully making it past the receptionist earlier. It had taken her about thirty minutes to convince them that she was Leon Gray's wife. Now, the second obstacle was the secretary, who was staring at her with a look of confusion, perhaps wondering how she had managed to come upstairs without notifying the CEO's staff.
Walking up to the secretary's desk with calm, measured steps, Emma gave her a warm smile. "I need to see Leon Gray," her voice steady.
The secretary regarded her for a moment before shaking her head. "I'm sorry, but Mr. Gray is in a meeting and cannot be disturbed right now." She then stood up politely. "May I know who I'm speaking with?"
"Emma," she replied curtly. "How long will the meeting take?" she asked, hoping to gauge the waiting time.
The secretary quickly shook her head again. "I'm afraid I can't say for sure." She tried her best to maintain a professional demeanor.
