Secrets in the catacombs

Chapter 42: Secrets in the catacombs

---Pov Ignis---

The air in the catacombs was heavy, dense, saturated with humidity and the unmistakable scent of ancient magic. The moment I touched Myrna's bindings, an electric shock surged through my body, hurling me backward. My back slammed against the cold stone wall with such force that I felt a crack in my ribs.

"That's what I was trying to tell you," said Myrna's daughter, walking toward me with an infuriating calm as she offered me her hand.

I ignored her gesture and stood up with a grunt. My head was throbbing, and my vision blurred for a moment.

"Are you sure he's the chosen one, Mother?" asked the young woman, crossing her arms with a look of disdain.

"Now, now, little one. Ignis has never been the sharpest, but his stubbornness makes up for it," Myrna replied with a condescending smile.
