Tarisai's mind reeled as she followed Nikolas and Victor through the winding streets of the city. Elijah's words echoed in her mind, filling her with a sense of unease.
What did he mean by "your connection to me"? What secret was Elijah hiding?
As they stopped in front of a nondescript building, Nikolas turned to Tarisai. "We'll be safe here," he said, his eyes scanning the surrounding area.
Tarisai nodded, her heart still racing. "What's going on, Nikolas?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "What did Elijah mean?"
Nikolas's expression turned somber. "I don't know, Tarisai. But I think it's time we talked about your past."
Tarisai's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"
Nikolas hesitated, as if choosing his words carefully. "You don't remember anything about your life before the VEU, do you?"
Tarisai's mind went blank. She had always assumed that her past was simply a blur, a result of her traumatic experiences.
But now, as she looked at Nikolas, she realized that something more sinister might be at play.
"What are you saying?" Tarisai asked, her voice trembling.
Nikolas's eyes locked onto hers. "I think your past is more complicated than you think, Tarisai. And I think Elijah knows more about it than he's letting on."
Tarisai's world began to spin. What secrets was Nikolas hiding? What did Elijah know about her past?
As she stumbled backward, Nikolas caught her by the elbow. "Tarisai, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you."
But Tarisai shook him off. "I need to know the truth," she said, her voice firm. "I need to know what's going on."
Nikolas's expression turned grim. "Then let's go find out."
Together, they stepped into the unknown, determined to uncover the secrets of Tarisai's past. But as they delved deeper into the mystery, Tarisai couldn't shake off the feeling that she was being led further into the darkness.
