Embarrassed

Joy honestly never paid attention to any guy all her life. She thought they were all the same except for the faces, but here she was looking at that perfect human in front of her.

Ryan felt the presence of someone and raised his head just to see a girl smiling at him. He didn't know what to think, what was up with that girl?.

Joy could see him get up and put one hand in his pocket, so gorgeous. He looked directly at her and started walking up to her slowly... slowly... slowly.

Joy heart stopped for a second, he was approaching her. Joy was lost in her head.

"Out of the way" she could hear him say something but didn't quite get it.

"Hmm?" Still smiling from ear to ear.

"I said..." He purposely leaned closer making Joy hold her breath.

"Move out of the way" he whispered close to her ear.

As Joy finally understood what he said, she jumped from the door immediately like she was strunk with thunder.

"I... I'm ... sorry" she whispered. She couldn't find her voice. As soon as Ryan left, Joy felt like she was gonna die of embarrassment.

What the heck wrong with me?

Why did I do that?

She was too embarrassed to even hear her own voice and meanwhile, the figure standing by the other side of the door smiled, amused.

"Cute..." He mumbled and walked away.

All classes finally ended and the time almost all the kids awaited finally came. It was finally time to go home.

Ryan didn't want to run from home again so he just decided to go home and try to not get into any problems. His driver came and took him home, the whole time Ryan kept his eyes closed, already preparing himself for what was coming.

Joy was already on her way out with Lily.

"Are you going home now?" Lily asked Joy.

"No. I'm going to ..... work" Joy whispered the last word as she remembered that she wasn't even the one spending her own money.

"Work?!" Lily exclaimed.

"Mm-mm" Joy nodded her head looking confused.

"That is so cool"

"What?"

"Nice"

Joy didn't understand why Lily said it was nice, she didn't get it.

"Your parents let you work?" Lily was in awe.

The word 'parents' didn't seem right but Joy just shrugged.

" My dad would never let me do that"

"Yeah. They're rich..." Joy looked really lazy at that moment. She wanted this talk to end.

Lily sensed that Joy didn't like that topic and chose to remain silent even though she had a lot to ask Joy.

Joy saw Lily get into her dad's car and zoomed off. Joy could only sigh.... She had nothing to say.

She headed straight to work and her cheerful self came back alive.

Ryan got home and was glad no one was at home at that moment. He double checked and was sure his family were all out. Now he was left with himself and the servants.

He fell flat on his bed and faced the ceiling.

"Nice..." He whispered. He thought it felt nice to be alone.

He was tired of resting since that's what he did all day so after his bath and lunch he decided to play some video games.

He was having a fun time for the first time in ages.

He played for hours forgetting that everything else existed.

"Ryan!" He felt like he heard his name but ignored it totally. Just then, someone pulled his headphones and dropped it hard.

Ryan heart stopped for a second or two. He knew who that person was, he knew his nightmare was back. He slowly turned to face his mother who looked furious at that moment.

"So this is what you spend your time doing, huh?" Ryan lowered his head.

"Answer me!!" Her eyes were like blazing fire. He didn't dare look.

"I...I." he couldn't speak.

"You really are very useless. Is this what you should be doing as the heir of this family?" She didn't even give him a chance to speak.

"Is this how you plan to live your life? To waste it? What's the meaning of what you're doing? Can't you be like Chad for once?" Her words broke him especially the last part. Why does she always bring Chad up, all the time. He bit his lips hard trying to not take it to heart, but he couldn't help it. It did hurt.

"I'm sorry" was all he could say.

"Sorry? If you're sorry then show me. Useless boy" she finally walked out of the room leaving Ryan standing there like a log. He clenched his fist hard until he started bleeding. He looked down and saw the headphones that was broken into pieces.

He remained silent throughout the night.

He didn't even have dinner. He wanted to run away and never be found but he knew that would be pointless. His father would do anything to find him.

The exhaled loudly "does joy really exist?" He asked himself and just then, the girl named Joy appeared in his head.

He remembered what happened today and couldn't stop himself from smiling.

For the first time, he wondered what a girl was doing.

Chad's parents didn't find out anything as usual. He cleaned up everything before they got home.

The family of three had dinner and Chad's parents kept asking how school was and the genius lair showed his wonderful talent.

Even his parents didn't know what kind of child they had.

Joy was about to go home, she already finished her work for the day.

She was as cheerful as always. She always had a smile on her face whenever she worked .

Her work place was one of the places she had peace of mind.

She inhaled the fresh air as she walked home. She replayed everything that happened today in her head with a smile on her face.

"Did school year would be nice...." Just as she finished her statement, she remembered what happened today with Ryan and her eyes widen as her face flushed.

She started hitting her head as she walked.

"What is wrong with you, Joy? Why are you so foolish?" She hoped she would forget and at the same time, she hoped she didn't...
