He took my hand in his and began to lead to me the small stream of water in which the boats sat.

"Are we allowed to do this?" I asked.

"No one has ever said either way," Lux shrugged, "Lis and I used to sneak out all the time."

"Is she coming with us?" I asked, I felt like palms getting a bit hot.

"No, she's working, someone fell off a vine today," Lux replied casually, I stopped in my tracks and he added, "No serious injury, I promise."

I let him lead me to a small boat and he helped me in. I sat on the seat facing him. The boat reminded me of a canoe, except it seemed far less tippy.

"Do you have an oar for me?" I asked.

Lux smiled slightly, "No need, I've got this."

He began to gently row us out of the docking area and toward the outside.

"So why the late-night escape," I asked.

"You'll see," He smiled with a touch of mischief, "It's a surprise."
