King Onyx stood from his throne and the crowd went silent.

"Many rumours have been swirling around about my marriage to a Licnine woman," His voice had taken on a booming and serious tone.

I watched Cass and Obsidian and saw them both twitch.

"I would like for you all to welcome my future wife, Lit-An," King Onyx turned to motion me forward.

I walked hesitantly to his side and stared out at the sea of people.

"This union marks the beginning of a new era, the union of two people and the beginning of peace in our nation," He said, and he took my hand, "The time for war is over, let us find peace with each other."

I had to stifle a gasp, I thought of Kat, Ny-an and her family, the island with the Lyrra and refugees. Every part of my body wanted to protest but Cass beat me to it.

"Father," She said in a deadly sweet voice. Her eyes twinkled with a charm I hadn't seen before. I felt King Onyx warm at her gaze.
