Game Plan

Ny-An slept in my bed with me that night. She curled her little body in next to mine. Her pretty golden hair tickled my cheek and I smiled softly to myself. Nya could have easily been the sister I'd never had. My real sisters in the spirit world felt worlds away compared to Nya. I didn't want to wake her and end the peaceful sleep we were having.

"Lit," I heard Mother whisper.

I was forced to get out of bed now to see what was wrong. Mother stared at three glasses that had been set out before our breakfast.

"I just found them here," She said, "I never heard anyone come in."

She picked one up and sniffed it. Suddenly Obsidian's words hit me hard and I lunged for the glass and knocked it to the floor. The liquid soaked into the lush rugs on the floor.
