I was better in less time than I had hoped for. Each time Onyx came to visit me he looked more and more haggard.
"I have arranged a carriage to take you and your mother and Ny-An to a remote part of the main Licnine island," He took my hand in his, "You'll be safe there."
"Onyx," I protested for what felt like the thousandth time, "You don't need to deal with this alone."
"I'm not alone," He countered.
I shook my head slowly, "I want to help you."
"No, my love," He kissed my hand gently, "This is a matter for the Valcox."
I sighed heavily.
"I'll bring you back here in no time," He promised.
"And what if you can't?" I whimpered.
"I would never leave you, not again," He let my hand fall.
I heard him speaking to the doctors and then he returned with a look of grim determination.
