Chapter 83: Shadows of the Past

The firelight flashed against the stone walls of Gabriel's war room, displaying long shadows over the faces of those gathered inside. The air was filled with tension written all over everyone's face. The tension was visible.

The attack had changed everything. The uneasy alliance between the packs had crumbled, and war looked to be on the horizon. Cassian was gathering his forces, and with Jonas's betrayal, trust was far gone. All packs have been on alert since the end of the unexpected betrayal and the alliance between packs which has been scattered.

Aveline kept walking around in front of the map table, her mind racing through possibilities. "There has to be another way, we can't just fold our arms like this and just allow this danger to get us even without them raising a weapon and they defeat us by making us enemies of each other just like this," she murmured, mostly to herself.
