My revenge will be sweet!

Slightly depressed from reliving that moment, I tried to open my eyes.

I was still so tired that my eyes felt as if they were glued together.

Before me was a sight I was already familiar with. I was lying in what looked very similar to Umbra's tent—his very tent, the one belonging to the man who had caused me so much pain last night.

As I tried to sit up, I noticed Mia peacefully sleeping on top of my chest. Her face displayed an almost distorted smile, paired with the soft blush on her cheeks and her fox ears tilting to the side. Her cuteness was already getting the better of me again.

"He is just like me, hehe~" faint mumurs escaped her mouth.

Almost reflexively, I placed my hand on top of her head, while the other covered my yawning mouth.

Instantly, I noticed a change on my right arm.

A violet-colored tattoo stretched from the top of my hand all the way up to my shoulder.

It depicted an incredibly detailed dragon, similar to the one painted on the walls of the giant tent.

Surrounding it were all kinds of decorations, the most notable being an almost glowing portrait of the moon.

The dragon's expression was an almost frightening representation of arrogance, as if it were looking down on the world itself.

All this was accompanied by the swollen, red skin underneath and the faint pain it was causing.

Seeing it, I couldn't help but smile. My mother would probably kill me if she saw it, but the thought of using magic was just too exciting. Of course, that's only if it worked the way I thought it would.

'I mean, the guy's tattoo I saw inside the cave came to life, and I'm also pretty sure it was the cause of the poison. So how does it work?'

I closed my eyes, trying to feel something. You know, like the fantasy stuff people do in films and such.

'Nope, just pain. What else could it be?'

I threw a few air punches to see if that would help, but no change whatsoever.

Then I tried a few more rather embarrassing things to get it to work, but ultimately failed.

To be fair, I had Mia more or less laying on my lap in what I would call a kind of trance state—at least, I think so. The important thing was that it was cute. Even if I've said that like 13 times, it's true!

"Your eagerness reminds me of my youth," a deep but warm voice stated with a chuckle.

It scared the shit out of me. In my excitement, I hadn't realized that Umbra was here too. It was quickly followed by a small headache caused by his words. It was only a slight discomfort, like someone messing with my memory, rearranging his words so that they made sense.

"W-What?" It was the only thing I could mutter, confused by that strange feeling in my head.

But it earned me a surprised glance. I couldn't blame him—I wasn't any different.

After a few seconds to recover from the confusion, I asked again, not quite believing what I had just heard.

"What did you say?"

This seemed to have piqued his interest. His gaze was full of curiosity with a hint of excitement.

"How very interesting... A language-related ability, it seems. Certainly rare..." he said, his gaze examining my arm.

Before I could answer, he continued, "You hold a lot of surprises, young warrior. First, you just appear in our tribe from seemingly nowhere, carrying things on you that must be from a powerful clan, without being a rightful member of one.

Then, to all of our surprise, the gods bestow upon you the divine marking of Raum, making you not only a member of our tribe by blood, but also another successor. And if that isn't enough—"

With a small sigh, he pointing at Mia, who had strangely begun softly nibbling on my hand about three sentences ago.

"You made our little demon look like a child tasting honey for the first time."

The word "demon" seemed to pull Mia out of her trance, as she noticed both of our gazes on her.

Her face instantly turned a deep red, and she tried to hide it with her hands.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy this display of cuteness that unfolded before me. I was still trying to make sense of what Umbra had said, as the words rearranged themselves inside my head.

Just as all his words finally made sense, he spoke again.

"Wait!" I cut off his words. Even though the more he spoke, the easier it was to understand him, it was still a feeling way too foreign to get used to, at least in such a short amount of time.

"First of all, don't call her a demon." I said, and these words seemed to cast a surprised but warm and lovely smile onto Mia's face. She then looked at Umbra proudly, as if she had just proved him wrong.

Umbra sighed heavily, turning around and reaching for something, muttering something under his breath.

"Hoho, seems like you two had a lot of fun last night, if you're already protecting her like that," a small smirk appeared on his face as he said it.

Holding back my anger toward Umbra, I continued, "That brings me to my second point. What did you make me drink yesterday?"

Slight confusion spread over his face as he heard my angry tone.

"Heh, my special concoction," he exclaimed proudly.

"You should be thankful. Not everybody is able to get their hands on it."

"Thankful?" I answered, my words containing more anger than before.

"But of course. The ingredients aren't easy to come by, and the amount I gave you could satisfy half of our tribe." His words only made me angrier.

"Half of the tribe, you say"

"It might even be more. I had to make sure something bonds you to our tribe," he exclaimed while laughing.

Veins formed on my forehead. I was so close to just running up to him and punching him in the face, but ultimately decided against it. I had no idea how they would punish me if I did something like that.

I think it was my angered expression, along with Mia's confusion, that finally made him realize what was going on.

"Don't tell me... You two didn't? That shouldn't be possible! The consequences would be fatal." His voice carried a shocked tone, and a sense of guilt washed over him.

Mia just became more confused by his words.

His tone grew more serious. "It would start with hallucinations—"

I thought about the angel and devil I imagined appeared on my shoulders that night.

"Followed by a desire so intense that your mind could break."

I clenched my fist, thinking back to when my personality felt like it had split in two.

"The pain would be so great, you might pass out," I thought, wishing that had been the case.

"By the gods, with the amount I gave you, it could even burst." A look of horror fell over him as he imagined it.

"It almost did..." I exclaimed in my mind, reliving that horrible moment.

He came closer to me, his voice slightly lowered. "Does it still work?"

His words caused me to question my existence as a man. With a shiver running down my spine, I answered, "I-I don't know... I hope it does."

His voice then returned to one of pride. "HAHA, see! You should still be thankful to me. Without me, you would have never gained the mental fortitude you have now from experiencing this. It will be helpful to you in the future."

"What?" With his pride, my anger returned too.

'Oh, I will have my sweet revenge soon enough. Let's see who's the last one to laugh.'

"Enough with this. There are more important matters than this," he exclaimed in a more serious manner.

'More important than my manhood?' In my mind, I was going through every possible way to find the most satisfying method to exact my revenge.

"Now that you are part of our tribe, you deserve these back." With these words, he gave me three very familiar objects.

'My wallet, my phone, and a chef's knife? Right, I was preparing food before I came here. Wait when did I ever agree being part of a tribe?'

"Personally, I like this weapon of yours. Truly a unique material that it's made of. A pity that I have to give it to you." He made it seem like he was doing me a favor by returning my items.

'Unique material?' It seemed like they didn't even have metal in this world.
