Memories

" What do you mean he knows it's me?" Amanda shrieked.

"I'm telling you. Freda confessed. You should have been more careful Amanda. Now Aaron is angry." the person said

Amanda paced in her room. She shoved her fingers into her mouth, biting them hard.

" Then do something. He can't be here. The job is to kill him….. Hold on. We can kill him."

Her voice twisted in a sharp, chilling laugh.

A hysterical laugh left her mouth as she brushed her hair backwards. She sat on the sofa not far from her and said to the other person.

" Make sure he doesn't get here. You're with him. Cut the brakes, slash the tires. Make it look like an accident. Nobody's going to know. It's just you and me."

After giving the instructions, she sips on her wine.

"This is going to be fun, Aaron. Finally, I can get rid of you without you knowing."

She raised herself from her seat and walked towards her floor-to-ceiling window.

The city lights linger in her room. She stared down at the people walking in front of the building.

"I'm doing it, Mom and Dad. What y'all couldn't do. I'm finally doing it." she clapped her hands together.

A smile lingered on her lips. Her mind travels back to the past when her parents were alive.

**************

" What do you mean we can't kill them? Amanda's voice trembled as she asked her parents.

They had a mission to take care of and now they were chicken out.

Her mother stuffed their suitcase with the clothes. Her mother turned to her sharply;

" You heard me, Amanda. They did nothing wrong. They are good people."

" To hell with that, Mom. They took everything from us. We are in this situation because of them." she yelled throwing her hands to the wind.

Her mother sighed heavily. She moved closer to her and rested her hands on her shoulders.

"Listen, baby. The Vetercios are good people. Yeah, they might be dealing with some bullshit but they are good people. Now pack your things and let's leave here before they find out. And cancel your engagement with Aaron. That was some useless thing he could bring up."

Amanda ground her teeth together. She was fuming inside. Her parents were insane to tell her she should put everything aside. She is going to take her revenge with or without them. But first of all, she has to get rid of her parents and any evidence.

" Ok, mother. I will pack my clothes," she said.

She turned her back away from her mother. Her lips coiled into a chilling smile.

Amanda stood in the hallway, watching her parents pack their things.

She smiled. Not because it was funny, but because this was going to be their last night.

She walked slowly and steadily to the boiler in their basement- the one her father refused to fix because it wasn't that serious.

She unscrewed the panel carefully. Her gloves were tight. No fingerprints. No residue. She tugged at the valve. Slowly. Just enough.

Hissssss.

The sound of quiet death.

Carbon monoxide- no smell, no taste.

Just a sweet lullaby in gas form.

She laughed as she witnessed her deed.

" Goodnight, Mom and Dad. Have a wonderful sleep."

She walked outside the house. She blew a kiss to the house before she walked away.
