"How many grapes did we get?" After a short rest, Lance asked the question that mattered most to him.

Elvin was a bit embarrassed, "The current grape suppliers aren't willing to sign long-term orders, they're only willing to sign for grapes that go to market in May at the most."

"How much?"

Elvin hesitated for a moment, "Ninety-nine dollars."

Lance shook his head slightly. Looking through the rear-view mirror, Elvin thought Lance found it too expensive, but before he could suggest trying to haggle, Lance told him, "Buy as much as they'll sell, and mix in some cash. Don't pay entirely by check."

"Two-thirds check, one-third cash."

"If they accept a lower price contract, we can give an extra five dollars per ton."
