The inter-school exam, also known as the internal exam within the ten major Immortal Institutes, was created to determine the ranking of each new disciple among all students of the Immortal Institutes.
Of course, not all disciples from the ten Immortal Institutes had to gather together for comparison—that would take too much time. Typically, during December's inter-school exam, disciples from the A and B Immortal Institutes would head to the C Immortal Institute to conduct written and martial tests. Disciples from the C Immortal Institute, on the other hand, would join those from the D Immortal Institute to visit another institute. In April of the following year, the A Immortal Institute would compete with another institute, other than the B Institute, in yet another location. Then, based on the results of these two inter-school exams, the Immortal Alliance would calculate a rough ranking for each disciple.
