Chapter 2 Daring to Oppose Me, the Cat?

Lu Zixun's eyes glittered coldly as he gave the shopkeeper a dangerous look.

As the stick descended, his forelimb shot up and viciously clawed at it.

"Crack!"

"Thud!"

Under the shopkeeper's astonished gaze, the thick stick snapped into two pieces.

He gripped the lower half in his hand while the upper half traced a beautiful arc through the air before falling to the ground.

Frozen in place, the shopkeeper turned his head rigidly toward the seemingly harmless and tender little kitty at his feet.

What just happened?

What did just take place?

"Meow—" Lu Zixun lifted his head, retracted his paw, and defiantly stared at the shopkeeper.

"I must be dreaming, right?" The shopkeeper slapped his own face forcefully, his heart pounding wildly.

How could a cat have such strength, let alone a kitten that seemed barely weaned, skinny as kindling!

As if hearing the shopkeeper's inner voice, Lu Zixun's cat eyes narrowed, revealing a sinister expression.

The shopkeeper watched the cat nervously, and when it made a smile-like expression at him, similar to a human, a foreboding premonition surged through him.

Just then, Lu Zixun's frail body began to expand as if injected with a growth agent.

Growing bigger and bigger!

One meter, two meters, three meters, Lu Zixun turned into a towering giant in the shopkeeper's shrinking pupils.

"Meow—meow—"

Hehe, puny humans!

Act tough now, go on, keep acting tough!

The shopkeeper looked up, his mouth agape, eyes filled with deep fear, his body trembling uncontrollably.

A second later, "Mama Mia, a cat spirit!!"

With a cold chuckle, Lu Zixun's colossal cat paw descended from above.

With a swoop of gusting wind, he gave a light flick.

"Boom—"

The man beneath was flung back like dust in fireworks, knocked unconscious upon hitting the ground.

Big bro will always be big bro!

Under the shadow of my giant cat form, everything else is just a paper tiger.

Lu Zixun looked disdainfully at the unconscious shopkeeper on the ground, shrank back to his normal size, and triumphantly jumped onto his back to keep warm.

There was no helping it, it was simply too cold.

"System."

Lu Zixun rubbed the bun he had dropped on the shopkeeper's body, then called out to the system.

"The Superpower System is at your continuous service, what do you need?"

"I still have one lucky draw chance left, I want to draw!"

Lu Zixun wolfed down the now clean bun in one bite, then spoke.

In front of him, a prize-draw panel appeared.

The needle began to spin rapidly and a few seconds later, it pointed to a purple slot. The slot popped out and turned into a card that slowly flipped over.

"Congratulations, you've won a pack of premium cat food, would you like to claim it?"

What? Cat food?

Damn it, I still want superpowers, superpowers!

I'm not really a cat, pfft, my soul isn't a cat, why would I eat cat food?

With a flurry of furry cat paws gesturing in the air, Lu Zixun's face was exceptionally fierce.

A few minutes later.

"Hmm, the taste isn't bad, kind of like the Teddy Graham cookies I had in my past life, just not as sweet."

Lu Zixun absolutely was not compromising with the system.

```
Eating just one bun was definitely not enough to fill me up; it wasn't long before I was hungry again.
Even though it's cat food, there's plenty of it, enough to keep me satisfied, and getting through today would be no problem at all!
Beneath me, the unconscious shop owner twitched, showing signs of awakening.
Lu Zixun lingered over the man for a while, then decided not to cause him any further harm.
At that moment, the cell phone in the shop owner's pocket began to ring.
Lu Zixun's ears twitched, he quickly hopped off the man and headed towards the mouth of the alley.
The phone continued its persistent ringing.
Wang Fugui's eyes fluttered open. He shifted painfully on the ground, his whole body aching as if something had stepped on his back.
A cold north wind blew against his face, clearing the haze from Wang Fugui's mind in an instant.
"Cat spirit!"
He exclaimed, scrambling to his feet and assuming a defensive stance, cautiously looking all around him.
At this moment, the cold wind whistled through an empty street; not a cat in sight.
"Where did the cat spirit go? Huh? Why am I unharmed?"
Before Wang Fugui could make sense of his current situation, the ringing of the cell phone in his pocket sounded again.
"Wang Fugui! Where the hell are you? Chasing that cat endlessly, huh? Are you ever coming back to sell buns? Let me tell you, don't think about slacking off. I have a bad temper and I'm not so easy to provoke!"
As soon as he answered, his wife's scolding blasted from the phone.
Through the phone, Wang Fugui felt as though his eardrums might burst.
Fear that was even greater than his encounter with the cat spirit surged from deep within him, prompting Wang Fugui to hastily placate his wife and then rush out of the alley in a fluster.
Bun Shop.
Zhang Cuifang's eyes, carrying a slightly murderous look, fixed on Wang Fugui as he hurried over, demanding, "Where have you run off to?"
"Wife, wife, let me tell you..."
Wang Fugui nervously sidled up to Zhang Cuifang and whispered, "I just ran into a cat spirit in the alley. It was as tall as a building! It frightened me so much I passed out!"
Zhang Cuifang looked at Wang Fugui as if he were insane, grabbing his ear with one hand and saying disapprovingly, "Making up such a lousy excuse? Do you think I'm a fool? Talking about cat spirits, I think you're the one turning into a crafty devil!"
"There really was a cat spirit! Ah, that hurts, let go, everyone's watching!"
Wang Fugui inhaled sharply, speaking with an air of grievance.
On the other side, the instigator of it all, Lu Zixun, having eaten his fill, strolled leisurely along the street, admiring this city whose name he had never heard before.
In the distance, a shifty figure was sprinting towards him, apparently carrying a bag.
Lu Zixun stopped in his tracks, focusing his gaze, and saw a sleazy-looking uncle.
"The robber, stop! How dare you steal from your auntie!"
Behind the sleazy uncle, a fierce-looking young girl followed in hot pursuit.
Due to the snowy weather, there weren't many pedestrians on the streets, and the few present stood at a distance, merely observers.
The girl's voice was getting hoarse from shouting, yet the thieving uncle kept on running without a care.
Today marked his fifth consecutive day of gambling losses
Without money to pay off his debts, he was at risk of having his hand chopped off by the thugs who were pressing for payment.
An old saying goes: 'As long as the green hills last, there will be wood to burn.'
If the roots remain, the winds of spring shall bring new life!
If luck comes his way, he might just turn his bicycle into a motorbike, and with a gamble, the motorbike could turn into a jeep.
To achieve that, however, he needs his hands to be intact.
So, despite the possibility of a broken head or flowing blood, he must preserve his hands!
The sleazy uncle's eyes were bloodshot as he clutched the designer purse in his grip, accelerating once more, determined to shake off the fearsome young girl behind him.
That's when he spotted a little orange cat directly in front of him, not far away, which sauntered slowly into the middle of the road.
And then it stopped, standing squarely in his path.
What surprised him was that ordinary stray cats would run away at the sight of humans.
But this one in front of him didn't flee; instead, it came forward to meet him!
[Author's Note: There's actually quite a bit of controversy over this part of the story.]
