Chapter 8: Jinya to have a one-on-one battle with Leopard Sister, with him as the center

Jinya jumped in fright, instantly standing up and taking a defensive stance.

A minute later, a confused expression appeared on Jinya's face.

She tentatively moved forward a few steps, sniffing hard.

"Awu, awu awu." Could that be brother's scent?

The brown Large Lynx put down the deer calf and greeted Jinya.

From their appearance, it was not easy to spot any similarities between the two Big Cats, or one could say that apart from the color of their fur and size, there wasn't much difference between the two Big Cats in the eyes of humans.

Jinya called out "Brother Ying," and the Large Lynx opened his mouth and responded with a couple of "ao, ao."

Chen Ying didn't go over; he calmly watched the siblings chat through the iron bars.

The Large Lynx was just passing by when he caught the scent of his sister. He lay in wait and observed for over a day, confirming that the Two-legged Beasts had not harmed his sister and had even treated her wounds before revealing himself.

"Ao ao," I brought you the kill. I'm leaving now; this isn't my territory, and I cannot stay long. You take care.

The golden brown Large Lynx licked his little sister's face, had her turn around to check the medicated area, and after sniffing it and sneezing loudly, he stepped back.

"Ao, ao ao, ao." I have my eye on a territory I plan to take over, which overlaps a bit with yours. When I succeed, I'll come back to see you.

After speaking, the Large Lynx gave Chen Ying a glance, as if to remember his face, then swiftly leapt into the jungle and disappeared from view.

Chen Ying went over to help Jinya drag the deer calf in for processing.

Only after dragging it in did Chen Ying realize that the fawn caught by the Large Lynx was actually a baby Forest Musk Deer.

This... Second Nation had eaten First Nation, what was he to do?

After calling the leader to report the situation, Chen Ying helped bring the fawn into Lynx's Animal Shed.

It was a comfort gift from her brother, not suitable for sharing with other animals.

Jinya also was happy to have the fawn all to herself, holding it down with one paw while making contented sounds as she ate.

Chen Ying sent a photo of Jinya's brother to the work group, and everyone immediately buzzed with excitement.

It was an excellent research topic.

Wild animals usually show little regard for kinship, and this was their first observation of sibling Big Cats visiting each other after leaving their mother.

Yin Li used a drone to track the Large Lynx for a distance, then retrieved the drone once he confirmed the direction it was heading.

"He's gone west. There are infrared cameras there, so everyone can keep an eye on the Large Lynx's status."

In addition to patrolling and protecting the forest, the Forest Station also carries out rescue work for wildlife and plants, with several research teams stationed here long-term, ready to track and observe the Large Lynx's daily life.

A week had passed, and Jinya's wound had mostly healed.

The medicine provided by the system was very effective, accelerating the entire healing process by at least a third.

Chen Ying began to prepare for Jinya's release.

On the other hand, Leopard Mother had started nurturing her children, but her milk was not sufficient. Chen Ying had to provide the two Little Leopards with an additional meal in the morning and evening.

After removing the stitches from Leopard Mother, Chen Ying led her to the water pool in the Animal Shed to give her body a thorough cleaning.

Cats are very clean animals, often grooming their fur themselves.

But Leopard Mother's injury was too severe, a tear in her abdomen, and grooming herself would always pull at the wound.

So, Chen Ying wiped down the spots she couldn't reach with a towel every evening.

"Roar, roar." Is the little cat next door about to leave?

Leopard Mother lazily lay in front of Chen Ying, enjoying the pleasure of being groomed while making casual conversation.

"That guy must be in heat by now, reeking with a stench that's unbearable. Hurry up and send it away; just smelling it is annoying to a leopard."

Chen Ying couldn't help but laugh while trying to soothe Leopard Mother.

"Don't be mad, it just came to show off its meal at your room's door the day before yesterday. Wait till you've recovered, and then you can show off to it."

"Who wants to watch it eat? It's so annoying to a leopard."

Leopard Mother flicked her tail, gently tapping Chen Ying's arm.

"I'm nearly better; when can I go out for a stroll?"

"Not yet, you've just had your stitches out. You need to wait at least another week and have another check-up to make sure your organs are okay before you can move freely."

Leopard Mother, looking utterly forlorn, rested her chin on her front paws.

Chen Ying found it amusing and pinched its face, letting it lie down to play on its own, and then went over to pick up the two little ones to clean their fur.

"Brother Ying, Brother Ying, come out quickly."

Before he finished his work, he heard Yin Li shouting loudly.

"What's all the fuss about, what happened?"

"Brother Ying, look across."

Following the direction Yin Li was pointing, Chen Ying couldn't help but blurt out, "Oh no."

"Ali, you go over there and check things out first; I need to calm these guys down. Call me anytime. And don't get too close, even though it's called a Mama Panda, it's still essentially a bear."

Yin Li nodded excitedly, donned protective gear, grabbed a toolkit, and hurried off toward the black-and-white creature.

Their mountain range was originally within the Giant Panda Nature Reserve, but no trace of giant pandas had been detected within the past three years. The last photo of a giant panda was taken three springs ago, capturing a moment when a mother panda was strolling with her cub.

Since then, Yin Li and his team had never again spotted a giant panda while patrolling the forest.

Using a small telescope to watch over Yin Li's actions, Chen Ying concurrently dialed the center at the foot of the mountain.

"What, you found a giant panda? Okay, tell that kid Yin Li to be cautious, to focus on observations. I'll at once notify Teacher Luo and others to come up the mountain."

The sudden appearance of a panda definitely called for research, to determine whether it was a released giant panda or if this wild giant panda had any issues.

While Chen Ying was distracted, Leopard Mother somehow made her way to the door of the Animal shed.

Leopard Mother's shed was separated from Jinya's by a vacant room and a feed storage room.

Just the day before yesterday, these two Big Cats had been arguing through the iron gate for an entire afternoon, hurling fierce insults; Chen Ying didn't dare intervene.

"Ow, ow, what are you doing? I think I smell something; has another animal come by?"

Next door, Jinya, after delightfully finishing the wild food her brother had brought her, was grooming her face. Hearing Leopard Mother, she looked around, confused.

"Aw, where? I don't smell anything."

"Ow, you're just a dumb cat, what could you smell?"

"Woo woo, you wait, Leopard Sister, when I get out, I'll bite you to death."

"Somebody, come and open the door for me, I'll go and kill that dumb cat right now!"

"Aw, Two-legged beast brother, come here and open the door for me, I want to have a duel with it!"

Caught in the middle, Chen Ying hung his head in agony. Why had no one told him that when two female animals quarrel, he'd be the one caught in the crossfire!
