Chapter 15 Trust and Cooperation

It was the first month since Abyss Descent, and very few teams would invest resources in a support system Superpower User.

Not many people were willing to become support system Superpower Users either, after all, one's life is one's own, and handing it over to someone else required absolute trust.

If it had been his previous life, Lu Heng and Su Muyu indeed had that kind of trust between them, now having only been together for about ten days, to have established such trust so quickly was all the more precious.

"Do you really want to learn this skill?" Lu Heng wanted to know her true thoughts, not just coerce her into listening to him.

"I'll listen to you, if you tell me to learn, I'll learn," Su Muyu nodded earnestly, her tone very certain.

Hearing her say this made Lu Heng genuinely happy.

In fact, what Lu Heng wanted most was an obedient partner, a partner who would unconditionally obey his commands and arrangements.

After all, having rebirth memories meant there were many things inconvenient to explain.

If a teammate constantly asked, "Why like this? Why like that? Why does this skill go to you?"

Then Lu Heng would rather be a lone wolf.

In the Low Martial World, personal bravery couldn't overcome armies, ships, and nuclear bombs.

The High Martial World was different, no matter how many people there were, they were just a number, a teammate was precious for their quality, not quantity.

Lu Heng curiously looked at her and asked, "Are you really that obedient?"

"Yep."

Su Muyu nodded and answered as if it was obvious, "You said at the beginning, don't ask for reasons, don't ask for consequences, to listen to everything you say, I promised you."

Lu Heng suddenly wanted to hug her and give her a kiss, but he held back, worried about scaring her.

"Alright then, from now on, I won't ask for your opinions. What skills you learn, what progression path you take, I will make all the decisions."

"Okay, I'll listen to you," Su Muyu nodded earnestly.

She silently said to herself: After all, you saved my life, whether it turns out good or bad in the future, I leave it to you.

Lu Heng, knowing she agreed, was very happy in his heart.

Because of his rebirth memories, Lu Heng understood very well which ability system she should develop into. The progression path he arranged for her was definitely the best solution for the moment.

"Alright, you learn this skill," Lu Heng decided.

Su Muyu grasped the Crystal Core in both hands, squeezed hard, and the Crystal Core transformed into a sphere of energy, flowing up her arm and collecting into an Energy Ball in the second Skill Slot.

"It's done, the [Invisibility Veil] skill has appeared on the data panel."

"Try it out," Lu Heng wanted to see the effects.

Su Muyu stood up and released the skill. A thin layer of Source Energy spread from inside her, covering her body, then she slowly became transparent and eventually completely invisible.

"Can you still see me?" she asked.

Lu Heng shook his head, "No, I can't."

Although he couldn't see her, because they were in one room, he could still hear her breathing.

Su Muyu decided to play a trick, tiptoed behind Lu Heng, covered his eyes with her hands, and in a deep voice said, "Guess who."

"So childish," Lu Heng couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"Ouch!" Su Muyu suddenly let out a cry of pain.

"What happened?"

"I pulled at a wound."

"That's what you get for messing about."

"I'm in so much pain, and you still scold me."

Su Muyu pouted, disabled her Invisibility, and sat back down in her chair, putting on an annoyed expression.

Lu Heng found it amusing, stood up, and flicked her forehead, "Okay, next I'm going to explain an important technique for using skills, which is skill combination. This is very important, make sure you listen closely."

"Okay," Su Muyu nodded earnestly.

"You've tested the [Invisibility Veil] skill now, what do you think of it? Do you see any drawbacks to this skill?" Lu Heng asked.

"Hmm... this skill is very useful. But I just tested it, and I found that I need to physically touch the target to apply the Invisibility State, which is quite limiting," Su Muyu, indeed very clever, identified a flaw in the skill after using it.

"That's right, the [Invisibility Veil] is indeed a short-range skill, highly restricted in use. However, if combined with the [Scouting Hawk] skill, it can be used at a distance. The method is to transform the energy of [Scouting Hawk] into the energy of the [Invisibility Veil]. You can practice it when you have time," Lu Heng explained the principle, then let her try it herself.

After explaining the skill combination technique, they went downstairs to find something to eat.

Quenching Castle had food to offer.

Breakfast was a soup made from an unknown type of clam meat.

Had Lu Heng not known that the food provided by Quenching Castle was edible, he certainly would have hesitated.

After tasting it, although it did have a strange flavor, finding edible foodin the Abyss Worldwas already quite a feat.

While having breakfast, Su Muyu pondered and inquired about issues related to Abyss Descent,

"What should I be doing right now? If more demons start appearing in the real world, it will definitely be dangerous, right?"

"You should be able to see a prompt for increased skill proficiency when you use your skills, right?" Lu Heng asked.

Su Muyu nodded, "I saw it. Does increased skill proficiency enhance the power of the skill?"

Lu Heng thought for a moment and replied, "It doesn't increase power. However, the more proficient you become with your skill, the smoother your combat will be. Sometimes, this smoothness is more important than sheer power.

"Moreover, once you have fully trained your proficiency, I have a way to help you evolve your skill.

"So right now, you need to train in controlling your reconnaissance hawk, raising your proficiency as much as possible. The effect of this skill once upgraded is very strong."

Su Muyu listened carefully, nodding in agreement, "Okay, I remember."

A while later,

She picked up a piece of unknown plant-based food and popped it into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully before continuing with another question, "My panel shows that I am at level 1. How do I level up?"

"There are many ways to level up," Lu Heng explained. "Training your physique and acquiring life-based vice professions can slowly increase your level. Besides those, demon hunting can also increase your level, and it's the quickest way, but it's also very dangerous."

Su Muyu nodded, then asked curiously, "What level are you now?"

"Level 4."

"Three levels behind." Su Muyu giggled, thinking to herself that the gap wasn't too big and that with some effort, she probably wouldn't fall too far behind.

After a while,

Su Muyu suddenly realized a problem and frowned,

"Um... I don't have any attack skills, so I can't beat those monsters. If I can't beat them, then I can't level up. Lu Heng, are you trying to trick me?"

Lu Heng tapped her forehead with his hand, "Yeah, I tricked you. What are you going to do about it?"

Su Muyu covered her forehead with her hand and giggled, then rested her chin in her hands and said, "Just kidding, I will seriously train my skill proficiency."

After finishing breakfast, Lu Heng went to Gulu to express his intention to help find the Narnia Crystal, but he wasn't familiar with the way, so he ended up with a city map.

Holding the map, Lu Heng and Su Muyu headed out toward the marked location of the Narnia Crystal.

The map circled three locations of the Narnia Crystal, all within valleys on the outskirts of the city.

They left Quenching Castle and followed the map's route until they neared the first Narnia Crystal.

The reconnaissance hawk found the location of the crystal from hundreds of meters in the sky.

This Narnia Crystal was placed on a stone platform resembling an altar, and beside it, a Scary Claw Demon was absorbing energy from the crystal.

"It seems there's only one demon." Su Muyu had the reconnaissance hawk circle the area to confirm that there were no other demons within a thousand-meter radius.

"Put invisibility on the reconnaissance hawk and get a closer look," Lu Heng reminded.

Su Muyu nodded, using the skill as instructed to make the reconnaissance hawk invisible and move it within ten meters for a closer reconnaissance, and indeed, she discovered something amiss.

"There are invisible ones, just like the one we encountered yesterday - invisible Horned Demons."

The thought of yesterday's encounter with the invisible Horned Demon still unsettled her.

"How many?"

"Two invisible ones, plus the Scary Claw Demon, for a total of three," Su Muyu reported the count.

If it had been yesterday, facing three demons would have indeed been a bit of a problem.

However, today they were armed with the Aurora Blade, a weapon whose sharpness was several grades above.

After contemplating for a moment, Lu Heng began to strategize, "Make me invisible too. I'll go and take out the Scary Claw Demon first. As soon as the Scary Claw Demon falls, have the reconnaissance hawk become visible and locate the positions of the invisible Horned Demons.

"If an invisible Horned Demon charges in your direction, apply invisibility to yourself and move towards me."

"Okay."

Su Muyu nodded seriously, using [Invisibility Veil] to render Lu Heng invisible.

Lu Heng drew the Aurora Blade and stealthily approached the Scary Claw Demon from behind.
