"Congratulations to all, from now on you are a glorious prison guard. Go and collect your uniforms."
Le Cheng waved his hand, letting Ya and several other prison guards take them away.
As soon as the others left, Mei leaned closer to Le Cheng, expressing her concern: "Brother Cheng, this might cause some problems."
"What kind of problems?"
"There are too many qualified newcomers this time, other departments might be dissatisfied."
"If there are more qualified newcomers, shouldn't that show my good performance? Why would other departments be dissatisfied?"
"Because this will use up resources from other departments," Mei explained, "This prison has five main departments: canteen, security, medical, transportation, and administration. Whenever new recruits come in, resources are supposed to be distributed evenly among these five departments. In theory, our administration department should only get 30%..."
"How come only 30% after all my hard work, administering exams, and grading papers?"
"Getting 30% is already good. If there are attractive female newcomers, we even have to send some to the Prison Director. If the canteen and medical departments are short on supplies, we might not even get the 30%. But now you've allocated all these 34 new prison guards under the administration department, if the other departments get upset..."
"So, you mean they'll come looking for trouble with me?"
"Yes."
"That's actually great news!"
"..."
"Don't worry, if the sky falls, our department head will handle it."
Would Le Cheng be afraid of other departments giving him trouble? Of course not.
In Mysterious Prison, the security, transportation, and administration departments are part of the Martial Arts Faction. Due to the different responsibilities, it's hard for Le Cheng to meet leaders from the other two departments. The head of the medical department is a research fanatic, and the Prison Director rarely shows up, meaning, even though he is now a Prison Guard, the prison's higher-ups he could come in contact with are limited to the administration head and canteen chefs.
If other departments come looking for trouble, it's a perfect opportunity to test their mettle.
"Damn it, where's our stuff!"
Just as they finished speaking, a roar came from not far away. Le Cheng looked up and saw a "person" with eight arms, leading several prison guards coming furiously towards them.
"That's Claw Ghost, from the medical department."
Mei whispered in Le Cheng's ear before retreating backwards, lowering her head, not daring to look directly at Claw Ghost.
"Are you the examiner for this batch?" Claw Ghost approached Le Cheng, staring fiercely.
"Yes, what about it?" Le Cheng calmly met his gaze.
"Where's the medical department's share? Why haven't I seen any eliminated newcomers?"
"Because they all passed. Naturally, there are none eliminated. I'm having them go change."
"How is that possible, every batch always has at least half the newcomers eliminated!"
"That just shows this batch's high quality."
"..."
Claw Ghost was momentarily silenced.
Le Cheng, through his Identification Eye, could see that this guy's body had modifications, perhaps also the reason for his not so sharp mind. After a long silence, Claw Ghost finally spoke, "I don't believe it, your administration must have cheated. Let me see the exam papers."
Le Cheng raised an eyebrow, "What, doubting our department head?"
"Uh—" Claw Ghost instinctively backed off by two steps, obviously wary of the administration's head, but despite feeling nervous, he still shouted loudly, "Don't use your department head to pressure me, our head is not easy to mess with either. If you don't hand over the goods today, once our head comes looking, not even that woman will be able to protect you!"
Honestly, Le Cheng was curious to see if the two department heads would actually clash if he didn't deliver, but on second thought, the likelihood seemed low; probably they would just pick a few newcomers to send over.
With that in mind, Le Cheng suddenly had a thought.
"Do you want them alive or dead?"
"Either alive or dead works, as long as the bodies are intact."
"That's easy, just wait here." Then, Le Cheng pulled Mei aside and quietly asked, "Is Green Ghost's body still there?"
Mei was startled, "Huh? I already threw him into the manure pit."
"How could you do that, he was your husband after all... forget it, I'll find some people to fish out his corpse later, consider it recycling waste."
Mei understood, hesitating a bit, "You want to hand him over to the medical department? But… wouldn't he stink by now?"
"No worries, just wash him off and he will still be usable."
A few minutes later, Le Cheng dragged back a naked headless corpse, tossing it to Claw Ghost like throwing out the trash, "Here, the goods you asked for, still quite fresh."
Does it smell like shit?
Claw Ghost blinked his big eyes and suddenly roared, "What about being complete? Where's the head?"
"You just said you wanted a complete body, you never mentioned needing a head." Le Cheng shrugged, displaying a bit of impatience, "Fine, I'll go find a head for you. Your medical department is so troublesome."
He turned again to Mei for help, "Mei, got any suitable heads?"
"Huh?" Mei was still traumatized by the corpse fishing from the manure pit and hadn't caught up with Le Cheng's train of thought yet, but just at this moment, she saw a familiar figure approaching and her eyes lit up.
The figure wore a dark black uniform, his skin dark red, strolling leisurely.
Pointing at the man, Mei said, "That's Red Ghost, friend of Green Ghost, they often abuse prison guards together."
As she spoke, Red Ghost also looked their way, his gaze upon spotting Mei clearly filled with desire, his expression becoming cheery, and even quickening his pace.
"Mei, where's your husband?"
Mei, disgusted, turned her head away and immediately hid behind Le Cheng.
Only then did Red Ghost notice Le Cheng, especially when he saw "Green Ghost" written on the ghost card on Le Cheng's uniform, he instinctively hesitated, "Who are you? Why are you wearing Green Ghost's clothes?"
"Green Ghost? He's dead." Le Cheng smiled, eyeing his head, a perfect specimen.
"What? Green Ghost is dead?"
At hearing this, Red Ghost showed no trace of sadness but instead a flicker of joy.
The reason he befriended Green Ghost was due to Green Ghost having a beautiful wife, which he greatly envied. Befriending Green Ghost was meant to get closer to Mei, but with Green Ghost now dead and Mei without any backing, wasn't this a chance for him?
But the next moment, seeing Mei hiding behind Le Cheng, he broke out in a cold sweat.
Hold on!
These two are so close, and he killed Green Ghost...
"Sorry, I might have come at a bad time."
"No, you came at just the right time… hey, buddy, don't run away. I just need a good head... there he goes!"
Gotta say, Red Ghost was quick on the uptake, sensing the danger the moment he realized Le Cheng might have killed Green Ghost over Mei. Sticking around Mei then was a sure path to doom.
But as fast as he ran, he couldn't escape Le Cheng's clutches.
"Buddy, just borrowing your head... not returning it."
As he spoke, Le Cheng crept up behind Red Ghost, his sharp fingers piercing the dark-red skin, blood spraying as he plucked the head off like picking a peach. Then, flipping around, one hand holding the head and the other pulling the torso, he retraced his steps.
"You... you..."
Claw Ghost, witnessing Le Cheng's fluid movements, was shocked, stepping back involuntarily, his eyelids twitching.
"What you what, here, the head you wanted, and the body too, it's a buy one get one free, can't say you didn't strike it rich." Le Cheng casually tossed it out, and Red Ghost's uniform was swiftly peeled off and given to Mei.
Claw Ghost, still holding Green Ghost's body and having eight hands, reflexively caught the head and body tossed by Le Cheng, then stared dumbfounded at him, "Are you really not a follower of Khorne?"
"What nonsense."
Le Cheng stretched out a hand, pulling Mei close into his embrace, the other hand resting on her chest, activating Sexy Party mode.
"Do I look anything like a follower of Khorne? I'm a Slaanesh believer through and through!"
