To Cowboy

"How about some music, baby?" he asked.

Dean took out his phone. When he got home, his cell service was turned back on, so he opted for the newer Samsung model. He had been downloading apps as he went along.

"Spotify? Nope. Need that one."

He opened the Play Store and downloaded the Spotify app. Now, if he could remember his login, that would be awesome. After his third attempt, he was in. Apparently, Allie had still been using his personal account. There were a few Playlists he didn't recognize.

"You've been busy," he said

"Smooth Jazz? What the hell Is that?" he laughed.

He opened the playlist. Metallica, Disturbed, Pantera, Rage Against the Machine...

"I get it. You're funny. You know that, right?"

There were Songs to Sing in the Shower, Workout Mix, Allie's Awesome Playlist, and To Cowboy. He was going to see what was on Allie's awesome playlist, but he was curious about To Cowboy. He opened it up and looked through it. It didn't have many songs. He looked down the list. Then he looked again, this time as a whole, not just the individual songs.

"Oh my God. You are funny, but boy, are you smart, Buttercup," he said with surprise.

He read it over and over. She was trying to get a message to him when he was away. After the day at the club, he didn't go back on Spotify. He didn't need his playlist anymore. He never saw what she wanted him to know.

He read it as a complete sentence.

Cowboy, Here without you one more night. All I want to do is make love to you to make you feel my love. I'll be right here waiting faithfully. As long as you love me, I will always love you. Truly, Madly, Deeply from this moment, if tomorrow never comes, please remember me. Don't stop believing. Never let go of storybook love.

He put his hand over his mouth and started to cry.

"I'm so sorry, baby. I didn't know. I should've had to. I should've just..."

Tears overtook him. He put the phone on the bed, took her hand in both of his and raised it to his lips.

"You must make it through this. I need to tell you something: I can't take back what I have done. I can only control what I do. I will spend the rest of my life alone if I can't spend it with yo
