Chapter 125: Nixus’s Risk

The rain came down in heavy sheets, soaking Nixus as he stood in the dimly lit alleyway, waiting for the hired enforcer to show. This wasn't just a calculated risk—it was outright dangerous. But Nixus had made a choice. If he could neutralize Evelyn's immediate threat and extract information about her next move, it would buy Malia time to regroup and protect her family.

His contact, an informant he'd worked with in his darker days, had passed along the enforcer's location. The man, a hulking figure known only as Riker, operated as Evelyn's fixer. If anyone knew what Evelyn had planned next, it was him.

Nixus glanced at his watch. Midnight. The sound of footsteps echoed down the alley, heavy and deliberate. Nixus turned to see Riker stepping into view, his broad shoulders silhouetted against the faint glow of a streetlamp.

"Didn't think you'd actually show," Riker said, his voice a low rumble.
